Chapter 3: House of Sin
Avril followed Envy to the front porch of his house. It was an average two story household, with a willow tree decorating the front lawn.
Avril smoothed down her hair and glanced back at the black motorcycle she had just ridden.
She was so ecstatic about Envy driving her to his house that she completely forgot what Envy actual drives. When he tossed her a helmet her grin faltered and she hesitatingly slid behind Envy.
Now, Avril was extremely happy that she got to tightly hug Envy for fifteen minutes, but was less than excited to get whipped by his hair every so often.
Envy turned the key and opened the door, he gestured to Avril to step inside.
As Avril waked into the foyer, she looked around and took everything in. The family pictures hanging above a lamp, the small chandelier illuminating the room, and a spiral staircase situated at the right end of the room. Avril strolled over to the pictures and studied them closer. Envy walked past her towards the kitchen.
"Do ya want anything? Water? Juice?"
"Nope. I'm good", Avril followed Envy's voice. She found him sitting on the counter drinking water.
Feeling the need to say something to avoid the silence sneaking around them, Avril spoke.
"So Envy, where are your parents?"
She had noticed that immediately when she walked into the house. It was awfully quiet in here.
"My mom's away and my dad's gone", Envy jumped down from the counter and set the cup in the sink.
"Oh"
Something about the tone in his voice told Avril that she had hit a sore spot. Feeling uncomfortable Avril moved to the dining area.
"So um anyway. Let's start on some ideas?" she sat down. Envy followed and sat opposite from Avril. He reached into his bag just as the front door opened.
"Yo, Envy! I'm home!" Greed peeked his head to look in the dining room.
"Greed why are you here? This isn't even your house".
"I know, but you left your poor brother alone at school", Greed pulled Wrath into the room by the arm.
Envy narrowed his eyes. "Well geez Greed, I never noticed", he replied sarcastically. "I thought he was going to take the bus home, I'm kind of busy right now", he said gesturing to Avril.
Greed just noticed that Avril was seated opposite to Envy and slyly smiled.
"Wow Envy. Making moves already? For someone who doesn't like girls much, you sure do know how to take 'em home".
"Someone who doesn't like girls much". Those words caught Avril's attention. What does he mean?
"What do you mean 'someone who doesn't like girls much'?" Avril heard herself say.
Greed slid in the chair beside her.
"Nothing really. He's not gay, if that's what your thinking. He just has some... experience let's say, with girls".
Envy narrowed his eyes at the two of them.
"I'm right here, you know. And Greed, you don't have to spill my whole life story on this table"
Greed lifted his hands up in a defense-like move.
"Okay okay. I'm not even spilling anything THAT big. It's not like I'm going into details about your-"
"GREED!" Envy shouted. His voice was a mixture of anger and warning.
The other sin stood up abruptly and started to inch out of the room while chuckling.
"Fine I'll stop, Envy. See ya Avril".
After Greed left the room, silence fell among the two teenagers. Envy was scribbling in his notebook with his head hovering over the book so deeply that his hair was shadowing his face. It was impossible for Avril to see his features and guess what was on his mind. Still, she had a hunch that he was uncomfortable and angry.
Avril's mind was filled with questions and worry for Envy. She was extremely happy to work together with him in his house, but she didn't expect it to be like this.
It was clear that she was getting nowhere with Envy by herself. This silence was nerve racking and she had no idea how to break it. It felt like they were working in a room with a strict teacher instead of a house without parents.
Avril decided there and then that she was going to do everything she can to get Envy closer to her. She wanted him to know that she would be there for him, no matter what. As cheesy as it sounds, she wants to be his shoulder to cry on. That was what she wanted ever since she felt feelings for him.
Envy's not even making any effort to talk to her! It's clear that whatever 'experience' he's had with girls is creating distance between him and Avril. She wants to find out what it is and let him know that she's not going to do the same.
Avril scribbled even harder into her notebook; determination taking over her face.

Hai hai hai! ummm so this took way longer than expected, hehe sorry. But hey, I'm a high school student I have projects and homework and coursework to do.. That's a lot of work already. But enough of me trying to justify my lateness. This chapter was already started long ago, but I just got around to finishing it, so if it sounded a little off at one point, that's probably the reason. Anyway I already got what I'm writing for my next chapter and it's a little better than this one (at least in my head) sooo yeah. Thats it, I guess.
Until next time. Bye-nee!
