Autumn's POV
______________________________
I jogged out of the apartment and down the stairs, saying hello to Mr Barda, the landlord.
When I reached the pavement I waited at the bus stop outside, and took the bus to Amy's.
I admit, I probably did get quite a few suspicious looks from old ladies who thought I was going to steal their shopping.
I was wearing a black beanie pulled right over my hair, so that only my face and neck were visible.
Amy's Hair Salon is actually a renovated fish and chip shop, and isn't where the 'popular' people go for their hair do's. They go to something posh like 'Madame Frei's Beauty Boutique', which is about ten blocks away.
Amy's still looks a little bit like a fish and chip shop from the outside. They haven't had the chance to take the massive prawn off the roof yet, or change the bubbles doorbell.
But apart from those minor setbacks, Amy's looks almost normal.
When I walked in I was greeted by Amy herself. Amy is a natural red-head like me, but instead she dyes her's this artificial murky brown.
"Hello sweetness," Amy cried when she saw me, giving me a big hug over the counter, pressing the customer bell and making it ring.
I've known Amy for a long time. She was my mum's best friend, so is pretty much family.
"Hello Auntie Amy," I replied, returning the hug.
"Now what can I do for you think fine afternoon, munchkin?" Amy asked, propping herself up with her elbows.
I took my beanie off, and Amy gasped.
"What happened, darling? Where have your lovely long locks gone, sweetheart?" Amy stood up and walked around the desk, inspecting my bad haircut.
"This girl in my class cut my plait off with a woodwork knife," I explained, "and they threw chewing gum in my hair."
"Well isn't that terrible! Don't worry though, darl. Auntie Amy has everything under control," Amy replied sympathetically.
I left the beanie on the counter, and Amy instructed me to sit down in a spinny chair, and she wrapped a black plastic coat over me.
"You ready to see the new Autumn McKenna?" Amy asked, flicking some small scissors around her finger while she chewed on a strand of her hair.
"Yep, I'm ready to see the new me," I answered confidently.
First, Amy cut the chewing gum out, that I had tried to remove and failed miserably before.
Then, Amy cut my hair all the same length, jaw length, to be exact.
"Babe, do you want me to give you a makeover?" Amy asked, turning to face me.
I paused, I'd like to stay me, but it's only my appearance she'd be changing, right? And maybe I'd be able to fit in better if I looked more like everyone else...
I nodded, "Amy, do what you want," I answered.
Amy clapped her hands happily at me, "oh goodie, a project!"
Using a mask blindfold, Amy covered my eyes so I couldn't see what she was doing, then she started my transformation.
