The walls I'm stuck between aren't soft but rough. The ragged rocks on them make it hard to squeeze through. I don't know where I am or what I'm doing, it's dark. Pitch black surrounds me so thick I feel like I can't breathe. Suddenly the walls start to run away from me. For a second I feel free, but no. Water starts to flood up from the bottomless hole I'm in. When I look up, nothing is there, more dark. The water fills us to my head, I'm drowning. The voice in my head repeats it, I'm dying by my worse fear.
I'm drowning.
Sun blinds me as I rise from my bed.
"Just a dream," I whisper to myself. Then something jolts me to attention. No wonder I had a bad dream, servants, cooks, maids, guards and everyone else working in the palace are scattering. Screams are echoing in my ears. What's happening before me is something I can't seem to interpret.
Until Tuck, of course.
"Get out of bed would you! The palace is under attack!" He screams at me over the loud kaos. He was surprised I heard him when I threw myself off my bed and into the floor. Dragging him down with me, he Yelps for it to be over.
"Get down, it won't be over until we find the source," I whisper into his ear still holding onto the collar of his jacket.
He's already dressed?
When the quietness returns, Tuck and I throw open the doors to of the kitchen. Our eyes widen at the sight. There stood most of our men holing axes and swords standing over what looks to be fifty metal robots sparking their way to death.
"How many?" I asked referring to the people that live in the palace.
"Eight," says Kwan. Our top gaurd. It's less than I expected, but more than we should have lost. The robots were not trained to cause kaos, but to kill.
"Um," I let out an awkward sound and snuck a glance at Tuck, still in shock.
"Tuck," I elbow him in the ribs.
"Oh, um, thank you men, you may return to your posts."
This has been nothing we've seen before. We simply don't know how to handle it.
The news reporter stands at the doorway when I turn. I rolled my eyes wishing these people would leave me alone. My life should not be broadcasted like I'm going to the moon. What happens, yes I understand that. Though, my personal life, is mine.
"Ma'am?" So the reporter speaks. I almost got away with walking through the door.
"Yes?"
"My name is Cathrine. I was wondering to get your plans on how you would defeat the robots if they attatacked us again?"
I smile thinking exactly what I could do. Though Tuck is going to hate me, I would've been the heir, I make the most overuling desicions.
"I am busy at the moment, but Tuck here is available to sit down and answer any questions you have."
Tuck whines with his eyes. There is nothing more than me forcing him to do things, especially when it's for my personal benifit.
"I will repay you," I mutter just before stepping through the double doors of the kitchen.
My first instinct was to head to the library. Find anything I can on robots.
Robots.
Who would've thought anything about robots! Then it hit me. On the way to the library I watched a Metal Bender make swords at his shop. There's only one kind of family that has the ability to do such a thing as robots.
Metal Benders.
I still don't understand why someone wants to attack the palace. What do they think we have?
When I walked in the library, sadness flows all inside me. There stood Marcus holding hands with Sharlie.
"Hey, Liy I need-" I had to stop because Liy was paying me no attention. She was laughing with whatever Marcus was talking about.
I stood there in silence until Liy decided to introduce me to her new best friends.
"Mayflier, hey. This is Marcus and his girlfriend Sharlie."
"We met."
Girlfriend.
"Yeah we met," I repeated as my eyes dart to the floor.
I don't want to make eye contact. Not with him. And as for Sharlie that's also a no go, she's one of my best friends.
Instead I walked away with my head still carved into the floor. I went to the last book self on the bottom floor. My thoughts told myself that I have to look until I find anything on robots or Metal Benders.
Minutes later, I jumped three bookshelves finding nothing. Liy comes to see what I need, but I spit back whatever harsh words I could find for her trying to ruin my life.
"If your just going to brag about your new friends feel free to leave."
"Honey, you are my best friend."
"You know good and well that's not the problem," I sigh.
"Love is a beautiful thing," she says looking up to the sky, "Everyone has it. Even if it's not with a person with certain abilities."
"Liy," I scold her with my eyes, "The probelm is we had an attack at the palace this morning and we need to figure out why. I was trying to find something on robots..."
"Sorry we don't have anything related to robots, but we do have Metal Bender books," she tried to lighten my mood though it doesn't work.
"Thanks but no thanks, I already know how to take down a little Metal Bender."
Quickly I storm out of the library, if anything, there has to be something I can use to track down who is in charge of this disaster. If Marcus is on my side or not.
