CHAPTER 7

Leah

Last night I dreamt about Ma's  accident....

Leah's nightmare

Mom and I just got out of the mall. I couldn't wait for the suprise which she had mentioned about. It was my birthday after all. September 23.Yay!!
We got into the car and drove off  to the mansion. The theme of the party was pirates!! I was sooooooooo excited!

"Oh no!"

"What's wrong ma?"

"We forgot the cake!"

"Shit"

"Laisha! I told u not to use such words!"

"But mom ,my Cake.  It's custom made! It's a real pirate ship ma!"

"Okay let's just go there quickly?"

"You read my mind!"

Ma gave me a warm smile and we sped towards the bakery. It was the most famous bakery in Mumbai. Ma got out of the car. I was about to go along with her when she stopped me from coming.

"Ma I wanna come too"

"Then the cake Ray ordered won't be like a surprise!"

"Oh yaaaaa!!" I gave her a big grin.

She came towards me, gave be a big, tight hug and a loud smooch on my forehead!

"I love you princess! Happy birthday!"

"I love you too ma!, ok bring my cakeie"

"Yes your highness" She said with a laugh.
She crossed the road and went into the shop. I waited for her in the car. But for some reason something was telling me to go into the shop. So I got down the car and walked towards the shop which was on the other side. The signal was red and I was the only one crossing. Little did I know that a red Mercedes car was speeding it's way . Ma came out of the shop with a box in her hand. I saw her and lit up. I started to run. The Mercedes broke the signal and was coming right at me. I didn't notice it. Suddenly I saw mom throw the cake aside and she started running towards me. I was filled with rage. But in the next moment everything went black.

I came into conciousness. I found myself on the road. The back of my head was bleeding very much. I got up. I saw the red Mercedes had crashed into the light pole. The people who were in it were all dead. To a distance I saw a small croud gathering around something. My walk was unsteady. My head hurt. I pushed through the croud and what lay before me took the life out of me. My Ma was on the ground. A pool of blood surrounding her. Her eyes didn't have light in them anymore. She had a pale face. I sat down next to her.

"Ma" I called out.

"Ma......Ma.....Ma....." No answer.

"MA....MA.....MAA....." I was shouting on the top of my voice. I kept shaking her body.
"MA STOP IT. GET UP NOW OR WE'LL BE LATE FOR THE PARTY.......MA.....GET UP NA....MUMMA .......MOM....MA......MAAAAAAA"

Leah's nightmare ends

I realised I was holding on to the back of my head. It still hurts. I winced a little.

"Ma....."

There was a knock on the door.
"Yes, come in"

"Princess!"

"Dad!.......hey......morning" I said giving him a bright smile.

"Something bothering you? Your fake smile says it all" He looked worried.

"Nope, nothing much dad, just a bad dream."

Dad sat down next to me and gave me a tight hug.
" Princess what's wrong?" Ok now he looked very worried.

"I just.......had a dream of when mom died in that accident." My throat felt like someone was choking it. A sob. And then I just bursted in tears.

"If.....(sob)...if only I...(sob)...I would have stayed in the car.....(sob)....it's all my fault Dad....(sob)....it's all my--" I cried so hard.

"No princess no, it's not your fault, please stop blaming your self" my Dad held me close. I could see that he too was about to cry. But I couldn't stop blaming myself. If I would have stayed in the car, mom would have never ran to save me and she would still be here today........
