Nimue
"So, who is she?" I ask Kaden. He gives me a hard almost scrutinizing look. He has his arms crossed but I see he's holding a yellow folder in his arms.
What's his deal? Hazel asks. I almost shrug but fight it. This is not the time.
"She's not saying. She just said, she wants to speak to you."Kaden says in a clipped tone. I hold my hand out for the folder and he feigns innocence. "What?"He asks. I roll my eyes.
Taking the folder out of his hand, I begin to whistle a random tune. He gives a warning growl and I look into his eyes, staring him down. After awhile, he looks away; which is the catalyst to my smirk.
"Rogue?"I ask looking at the first page of the file. It has a picture of a young girl on it.
She is a shoulder length blonde and holds striking green eyes. Looking closely, I see her hair looks to be glowing in the picture. I look up at Kaden. "Dude, are you sure she's just a rogue? Do you even know how to fucking tell?"Kaden glares at me.
"Of course, I know how to tell. She doesn't have a scent! I asked her, what are you, and she said a fucking rogue!"He screams. I flinch internally but Hazel burns in rage. While men hollering in general scares the shit out of me, it makes Hazel upset. The commander answers to no one, takes no one's shit.
"One, don't yell at me again pup; or we're gonna have some serious issues."I tell him. He growls at me.
"Screw you."With that, he takes his leave. I groan, our love was quite peculiar. I look at the file once more; this time, taking note of the details. She didn't have a birth certificate, but was reported of being born on November 1st. That report was from her kindergarten teacher, the first and last teacher she ever had.
She has no report of ever having parents, foster/adopted/ or even biological. The year she went to school, she never went on field trips and mostly stayed home (whatever that was). Her kindergarten teacher reported her of possibly being abused once near the end of the year, it was checked out. They found no evidence.
She stayed in school a month after that, coming on time everyday, before she never went again. When social services went to check the incident out, they found evidence that her family had moved away.
This was the only information on her, except for one incident. In 2008, she was caught shoplifting food. Not candy and soda, like normal kids, she was stealing things like bread, salami, and clothes. It wasn't even designer clothes, just clothes that would last her a while, as well as someone else.
Not only did she steal girl clothes, she stole newborn boy clothes as well... She must've had a sibling. With the information I had, I was ready to confront her.
I slammed the file closed and walked towards the interrogation room. It was a long white marble hallway that I had to walk down for the next ten minutes. Time to consider what I'll say.
While I'm at the door, I get my speech together. I say hello to the guard standing watch. I open the first door and look around, examining the viewing room. Nothing looks out of place. There's a water fountain with multiple water jugs.
In the center of the room was a rectangular wooden table and four wooden chairs. Many files occupied the table. There was a single window in the room. It had a special glass so we could see the child in the room, but they couldn't see us. I walked closer and peered at the child.
She sat with her head down. The glowing white mass surrounded her little body. She wore a violet sweater and black dress pants. On her feet were black vans, they looked a tad bit worn out. I'm only staring at her a few moments before she looks up at me.
