Whatever It Takes

Chapter 2

I watch as the police arive, I shake my head with tears falling down my face knowing my kids still sleep in the van "Sir please its a reason I broke in your home just please don't press charges" I watch as he give me a angry laugh while his wife and daughter stand in the distance "After tonight you won't break in nobody else home huh" I look down to the ground as the police hand cuff me and search my pockets

I watch from the back of the police car as the officers talk to the girl and her father "He broke in my home and held my daughter hostage threatening her" Brittney shakes her head in agreement "yes and he also took this bag full of things" The officer take the duffle bag and open it then gives The man a surprising look "its only food"

I look up from my lap as the police car door opens with the officer motioning for me to get out "Why is only there food in this bag sir" I look down in embarrassment knowing whatever I say will be thought of as a lie "sir I'm homeless I had no choice can somebody please go down the street and get my daughters from the van I did it to feed them it was my only option at the time they haven't ate all day" The man look at me and shake his head "thats a lie, I dont believe it" he quickly turn lookin at Brittney run off in the direction of the van "Sir its not a lie Me and my daughters live in a van every day We have no where to go, no money food nothing Im sorry about breaking into your house"...

"Daddy!!!!" I look back and see Harmony and Destiny crying and running for me "Daddy you left us" I hold back tears and kneel down to them "Daddy sorry baby girls I was trying to get you something but I got in trouble and I'm going away for a lil while" Both of them grab my neck tight squeezing me "Daddy no you can't go, you can't leave us we won't" Destiny look up at the officer crying "Why you taking my daddy please leave him alone"

Brittney moves closer and I look at her while the tears flow down my cheek "Thank you for getting them I'm sorry for all that what just happened" She wipes tears from my face and nod "I'm not pressing charges on you I look at her surprise until her father walks up next to her "She may not be but I am only because You broke into my home and threatened my family "Daddy have a heart!! He only took food" Brittney exclaimed "food to feed his daughters" he look at me and shrug his shoulders without a care and walks away

I sigh in disappointment knowing my kids have no where to live excpet foster care "I'm sorry we have to leave now" the officer opens the door as I get in I take another look at my daughters cry then look at Brittney "Please take them in for me I'm on my probation so I know I'm goin to jail for a while" the door closes before I get a answer and look out the window as I head for jail

"Daddy really look at them!! I know he was wrong for breaking into our home but he did it for his daughters if you loved me you would do the same thing" she rolls her eyes and takes Destiny and Harmony by the hands "No matter if you disagree with me Imma do as he asked and take care of these girls for him its only right that I do it especially when they have no one else" she walks away into the house leaving her father with a look of disbelief
