Herobrine took me to his castle, a big, dark, nether brick building complete with turrets, windows and a big door at the front. To seal the package, it was in the middle of a foggy forest. How much more horror-ish could you get? I was half expecting the door to squeak and groan as Herobrine opened it but it was completely silent. I had also expected the interior to be dark and gloomy, but again I was proven wrong. It was well lit and warm, with the delicious smell of butter wafting in the air. My stomach started growling and I realised that the piece of toast I had for breakfast was not enough.
Herobrine led me though the castle in the direction of the smell. I noticed that many of the doors were closed. I started to hear murmuring voices and as Herobrine pushed open another door, the voices stopped. I peeked inside the room. Inside were four young men, all in their early 20's and sitting at a table.
"Hey," one of them said.
"Guys, this is Riley," Herobrine introduced. I walked into the room behind Herobrine shyly, half raising my hand to wave a hello. All of them except one were familiar, but I don't know where I knew them from. One of the men stood up and came to me.
"Hi Riley. I'm Bajan," he said, extending his hand.
I shook it tentatively. Bajan wore a black and red checkered jumper over a white shirt. He had blue jeans, black shoes, brown hair and brown eyes. I looked at the other men who were sitting at the table. One had dark brown eyes and he wore a black suit. The person beside him had green eyes, a white shirt with a green jumper over the top, grey pants and black shoes. The last man had sunglasses, a black and grey stripped shirt and pants, a yellow and purple necklace and red shoes. He was eating a golden-coloured muffin, the source of the lovely butter smell. All of them had brown hair. And I realised where I knew them from: they were the Youtubers I watched: BajanCanadian, SkyDoesMinecraft and SubZeroExtabyte. I reasoned that the fourth person was ASFJerome.
But for the sake of simplicity, I decided to act like I had no idea who they were.
Bajan turned to his companions and introduced them. "The dude in the tux is Jerome. The guy next to him is Sub and that's Sky."
Sky waved energetically, his mouth full of muffin.
"Bajan, could you explain to Riley what you know? I've just got to do something," Herobrine said. He walked out of the room and Bajan gently pulled me over to the table.
"I'm assuming that you came in this morning?" he asked politely.
I nodded.
"I remember coming here too. It was probably a month ago. Sub came only a week ago."
Sub nodded in confirmation.
"It's a bit weird at first, but you get used to it quicker than you think," Jerome said, trying to grab one of Sky's muffins.
"Hey!" Sky pulled the butter muffin out of Jerome's reach. I smiled but didn't laugh.
"Just a question Riley, can you talk?" Sky asked before shoving the rest of the muffin in his mouth.
"I can talk, I'm just not comfortable talking around people," I said indignantly. And I'm especially uncomfortable talking to people who make videos that I watch obsessively, I added in my head.
"Okay, sorry. It's just that Sub here can't talk," Sky said, gesturing to Sub who nodded vigorously.
"So, Riley, what do you want to know?" Bajan asked, giving me a seat at the table.
"Everything," I answered immediately.
"Well, I don't know everything but I'll tell you what I do know. All of us were playing Minecraft when Herobrine approached us. He hovered on the edges for a little bit, then he started talking to us. A few days after that, he teleported us here. To Minecraft." Bajan paused and Sky took up the story.
"He says that he needs our help. That something is threatening Minecraft and he can't get rid of it alone. He hasn't said what it is, but he's scared of it. Really scared."
"I wouldn't say he's scared of it Sky," Jerome said. "I would more say that he's apprehensive of it. Maybe worried is a better word to use."
"Whatever you call it, it's bad," Bajan interrupted. Then he shrugged. "That's pretty much all we know at this point."
"Do you know how we can go back home?" I asked, hope rising in me. But that hope came crashing back down as they shook their heads.
"We don't know when we can go back, let alone how." Sky sighed. "I guess we're prisoners."
