I stuck my phone in my pocket and ran downstairs.

"Mom!" I called as I ran into the living room. "Yes?" She glanced over towards me.

"Um can you tell me about dad?" I asked, biting my lip.
Her eyebrows knitted, "Yes I can." She finally said.

"Your father.. He was a nice man." She started, "then why did he leave?" I interjected.

"It just didn't work out baby, but he is a good man." She assured.

I sighed, "okay."

"Oh, and baby also you'll uh be living with your dad for.. A while.." She sighed through her nose.

"What?" My head shot up.
"I have a problem with work and I have to fly to New York for a few months." She put her head down.

"How long is 'a few months.'" I asked sharply, using air quotations.

"2 months." Her beautiful green eyes stare into mine.

I sighed, "that's okay mom.. I hope everything at work turns out well." I smile slightly.

"What did I do to deserve you?" She smiles a bit, then pulls me into her chest.

"I don't know." I play sarcastically.
"Oh stop." She says and laughs.

I decided to take a selfie, so I go onto snapchat and choose the star filter.

I part my lips a bit and take it. Picture.

I put my phone up and turn towards mom.

I then stare at her features for a bit, my mom is so beautiful and wonderful. I'm glad she's here.

"I love you." I say, scooting back and putting my head in her lap.

"And I love you too hun."

All of a sudden my phone buzzes, I look to see a text from Allison.
