I could see the brilliant smile on Daphne’s flawless features as she waved to her husband as he left. If it wasn’t for the fact that I was complete and utterly confused by what was happening about meeting “the rest of the family” I probably would of felt that same odd warming feeling that I kept getting whenever these two were together. But at the moment I was more freaked out that despite yesterday I had assumed that this couple was like ummmm I dunno baron and incapable of having kids. Or maybe it was just like there close relative, otherwise this would be extremely awkward.

“Oh my, are you alright Cruzy?” Daphne’s voice pulled me back from my wandering thoughts.

Gulping down a little uneasily I suddenly found myself fiddling with my fingers like I do whenever I found myself extremely nervous. “Ummm…when he said…family. I-Is it like y-y-your relatives?” I asked a little unsure. My eyes peeked out from under my messy bangs and through my glasses towards my guardian.

She seemed to pause for a moment as if wondering what I meant, until a look of realization formed across her tanned skin. She smiled that award winning smile towards me and giggled like an overly excited school girl, “No no well…yes and no. Your going to meet our children and many more other members that live with us. We didn’t want to overwhelm you yesterday with everything so our alp-well my sisters son took everyone out so you could get a little more comfortable.” She explained. “Your going to meet some of the pa-group today.” She continued on.

I stood frozen in my spot as she spoke on and on yet again, like she had some weird case of word vomit. Not even the nuns would talk this much about one subject and they were compelled talkers especially when it came to us orphans. Daphne was like a machine that unless she had nothing to say or Jared was here she wouldn’t stop talking. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing, just unusual to me.

“So lets go get you ready little missy.” Daphne suddenly switched subjects as she barged into my new room.

I quickly moved out of her way not wanting to be knocked over. This women seemed so excited to just help me get ready to meet a whole family that I may not even remember to well. Unless her words about them actually living with her were more literal then I was taking it. Because this may be an extremely awkward situation living with an actual family while me being…well adopted. Would they even like me? Will I just be found as an outcast and looked at as an unwanted guest? What about the Wulfrith kids? Am I going to be looked at as the freaky adopted kid? Will I even be able to act like a normal person in a family? I haven’t really had a family for over 9 years am I even capable of it? All my thoughts were so jumbled and mixed together I didn’t even realize I was actually having a panic attack from it all until I felt Daphne Wulfrith’s calming arms were wrapped tightly around me.
