•BRAD•
It took me about ten minutes to get to the pool. Luckily, it was Ron handling our bags and not Chad, so I had one less problem to worry about.
I was hit by the smell of Chlorine as soon as I entered the pool area.
"Hey, Brad!" I turned around to see Ron coming my way. Without the bags.
"Hey, where are the bags?" I asked.
"With Chad." He shrugged. I widened my eyes in horror.
"Why?!" I asked a bit too loudly.
"Why not? Do you have stuff in there that you don't want him to see?" He asked accusingly. He even leaned forward with his head tilted slightly.
I shoved him back and scoffed. "Let's get back to our room."
Ron's phone started ringing. "Hello?" He answered it.
I heard some faint shouting in the other end before Ron pushed the phone a few inches away from him. "What's up, dude? I didn't catch that."
His eyes widened. "What?! Okay, I'm coming.
Yes, Brad is with me. Where?
Okay, sounds good. I'll hurry." He said shortly and clicked his phone off."Follow me." He said, before I could ask what's wrong. He jogged over to the reception with me following him.
"Mind telling me what's –"
"They're here. Chad just saw their van outside the window. It's just seconds before they find us." He said in a rush.
He turned towards the lady at the counter and asked, "I'd like to check –"
The door broke, and the clash of the glass pieces falling on the floor dominated the gasps.
"Boys. Get them upstairs. Make sure nobody escapes." Alex commanded, and his 'army' of men started dragging everybody they could find except Ron and I upstairs.
"Game over, Brad. Come out of your hiding spot or the thousand people here die." Alex said.
I was confused. How did they find us?
"Wait. I'm here." I said, stepping in front of him.
"I know what you're up to, kid." He said, stepping forward. Rose whistled from behind. More armed men came into view and stood outside the hotel. They were wearing their black uniforms just like last time, but instead of the shot guns that they used to carry, they had bigger guns and other kinds of weaponry.
"How?" I asked.
"That's not important." He said, wiggling his fingers above his head while sticking his tongue half-out.
He looked like an idiot. But he was a scary idiot who could kill my mom. So I decided not to comment on his looks. "What did you mean by 'thousand people die'?" I questioned again.
Keep going, Brad. Keep asking random questions until Chad shows up, hopefully alive.
"We've planted a time bomb in this hotel that will activate when I press this button." He said, showing me his remote.
"That is a mainstream villain thing to do, dude." I said, walking closer to him. He clutched his gun tighter. "How about you give me that and we figure out cooler things to do like not hurt people?"
Nice logic, Brad. Convince your villain into doing something good. Now let's convince Spider-Man to wear a tutu.
"Where is mom?" A deep commanding voice asked from behind me.
I turned around and looked up to see Chad standing at the top of the stairs with his gun pointed at Alex. He looked completely serious this time; his usual clown aura was gone. I also noticed how he said 'mom' as if he truly believed that he was saving his own mother. He had only met her once. Why is he so persistent about saving her life now?
Alex waved his hand as if dismissing Chad. He turned his attention back to me.
Bang!
A sharp scream of pain was heard as soon as the gun fired. "I was talking to you." Chad said.
Alex was on the floor, clutching the spot where Chad had shot him. He let out strained whimpering that almost made me feel bad for him. "Where is my mom?" Chad asked louder.
"Rose!" He screamed with all his energy before rolling on his good leg out of the view. As if it had been planned, Rose appeared in front of me with her blade. Chad now pointed his gun at Rose.
Suddenly, I was yanked by my collar and a cold sharp metal was pressed to my neck. "You know what would happen if you shoot." She said smugly to Chad. Defeated, he put the gun on the floor and raised his hands up.
"Good boy." Rose cooed, still having a firm grip on her knife. It made me want to pierce that blade down her throat when she talked like that to Chad.
"What do you guys want from us?" He asked with his hands up.
"The money, honey."
"But - "
"Or the boy dies." She said, casually spilling a drop of my blood from my neck.
"You knew this. You know we don't have the money. You just want his life because you're a pathetic bug dying for revenge. He didn't even do anything to you!" Chad shouted. I could see his pulse on his forehead even from this distance. His eyes were red, and he was radiating with anger. Seeing his this angry for the first time (and hopefully the last) made me want to drop to my knees.
Rose threw her head back and started laughing. "What are you talking about?" She said in between her cackling. I had to resist the urge to push her blade though her lips so she would not be able to speak.
"Oh, you know very well what I'm talking about." Chad said, gritting his teeth so hard, he might have made the sound of them chipping off.
"So, what is it? The money or the boy?"
