"Your eyes are not shielded against the high intensity of the light emitted. Put on Solar Shades to protect them."
I grab the plastic-bagged, oversized, dark solar shades from its gloved hand. Once I place the shades on the bridge of my nose, the world melts into a shadowy tint, like a filtered image. I glance at my father, and jerk my head towards the string of people.
The bustling of people starts to dry out as we enter The Vacuity. Two glass pillars mark the entrance to The Vacuity; while, a wall of an electromagnetic force field surrounds the rest of it. The lucent arctic-blue lines on the glass ground split into various rows. Each row occupying an equal set of persons. The stream of people starts to slowly thin out as they disperse to the incandescent rows. My father and I stand parallel to each other. I take a small peek at my father. He has removed his Solar Shades. His face is red and sweat dotted his forehead. He starts muttering under his breath and looks behind him. I follow his gaze and land on Dr. Katarina Atkins. She is the head principle of The Android creation and Production Company. Her merchandise sells into every sector including the military and federal agencies. She stands at the entrance of The Vacuity; her navy-colored fitted dress clung to her body as she headed towards the podium. The podium was centered in the middle of The Vacuity. Hovering next to it were laser projecting camera droids. Her face, large and clear projected into the air for all individuals to see.
" Citizens of Elentiya!" her voice protruded throughout the whole glass field.
" Welcome to The Vacuity! We are all aware that this is the first occasion where the warning alarm has been set off. The rules and regulations that you have grasped during the earlier years must be followed. Under no circumstances must any citizen break these protocols. Now, let us get to the matter at hand, the vast orb that you set your eyes upon has been detected since the past two years. Scientists and I claim that this might be what was once called The Sun. We must understand and grasp the concept of..."
My father's livid eyes are trained hard on her. His feverish face seemed to get redder by every passing moment.
" Father, what's wrong? Your hands are quivering and your face is flushed." I mumble.
"There have been rumors." He whispered. His agitated eyes skimmed the arena, troubled of someone eavesdropping.
" The people in the other city...they... they have light. Cyrenaica Dr. Katarina Atkins is a liar. This isn't her on the podium! It's an android. The sun is real! Its out there!"
