                                                                         CHAPTER TWO

I hopped out of the car, ready to see my new room; mom had promised that we would all get our own. I glanced over towards the other side of the car to see if they were coming, Nate was grabbing his DSiXL, Anihi was shutting off her camera, and mom was stretching. She let out a huge, contented yawn, and asked us;

“Who’s ready to see the inside?”

“Me!” That single word rang out from two young throats like a trumpet call. I just nodded, even though I was eager.

“Onward then we shall go!” I laughed inwardly at her odd way of saying; ‘let’s go then.’

We marched up the stairs and through the door, strait into what can be described as a; A) sitting room. B) Mud room. C) Parlor. D) Waiting room. I like parlor best, because it pretty much covers all the others.

 It is a decent size, with three windows pale green paint on the walls, crown molding, and the doors to rest of the house were French doors, very pretty. The room was about ten feet tall. The ceiling had big wooden beams going across it every foot, I got the sense that they were just for decoration. In between the beams the ceiling was painted an even lighter green then the walls.

It was lovely.

Mom opened the French doors. I was surprised to see that what was on the other side of the doors was a relatively open area. I had thought the whole house would be one closed room after another judging by the pallor.

“This house used to be all closed, it was airy, granted, but they decided to take down some walls anyway.”

 It was like mom had just read my mind, but I was used to it, on several occasions we had done this. Once at the store we had carried almost a whole conversation just with our eyes, it had really freaked out the cashier; it was so amusing to watch his face go red, and his jaw drop… Mother daughter thing I guess.

The area was large, with all wood floors, they were a little worn and the planks were long and thin, I think the wood is pine. It was cool. The biggest part of the open space must be the living room. There is a humongous fireplace on the far end. On the other end you took one step up, to a little spot that would be a good un-formal dining room.

Past that was a long island made of cherry wood and colored glass with rot iron stools under the overhang. Similar counters and cabinets followed; the kitchen. The side door was in the kitchen. I’m so smart.

A wall with a massive archway showed a glimpse into a room that had a built-in china cabinet in the corner. The formal dining room. A spiral staircase also made out off rot iron led to the upstairs. A door off the side of the kitchen led to the finished basement, which had a mother-in-law suit and a den.

The upstairs had two linen closets, and five bedrooms, two of which shared a bathroom; we decided that would be for Nate, if we had company then he would ether make room, or we’d put them in the basement. The rest of us got our own bath rooms. Each room had a walk-in closet and access to the balcony.

Mine and mom’s rooms were more like suits though, with a sitting room and bed room.

Mom had had the movers come ahead of us and just put furniture where they thought it’d be good, she said she would take us to get some more later, because ours didn’t fill the house.

I flopped down onto my bed, ready to make some zzz’s, when Anihi rushed in and jumped on my bed.

“Get up! Get up! Get up!” She yelled happily.
