Opening my eyes felt like trying to bench press a hundred pounds. With my lack of experience with exercise, it was impossible to lift my eyes no matter how much I tried.

The concept of time was different where my mind was. I couldn't tell if time was flying by or standing absolutely still. If this is what happens when someone died, a person's life was useless. The whole fuss of religion would be vanish if there only was darkness.

I gave up fighting with my body, and let the wave of black wash over me. Within the darkness, I found fragments of my life. The fragments I had lived were ones I wish I could change. I could have used my liberal arts degree for something useful instead of the desk job I had. I could have confessed to Gizelle that I loved her. I saw her everyday, and I could have told her any time that I had wanted. However, I decided to do nothing. I did not want to take risks to be happy, I just lived. I let everything pass me by because I was too comfortable to leave my routine.

As the fragments of memory left my mind, a picture of a stunning woman entered through the darkness. She had silver hair, a strong nose that stood out against her striking features, and she had purple eyes that pierced my soul. The purple reminded me of a vibrant lavender that was both soft and bold. She looked familiar as if I've seen her before. I felt like I've known her my whole life.

I glanced down at her lips, they were moving, but no sound was coming out. I wanted to ask what she was saying, but my mouth was sealed shut. I couldn't pull my lips apart, I needed to know what she was saying. She seemed to be running from something towards me. Her eyes spoke panic that sent a shiver through my body. Her eyes were wide like a deer in the headlights. I wish I could help her, but nothing seemed right.

All of a sudden, I could hear her voice screaming. The scream was so loud that I felt my eardrums explode. I couldn't cover my ears, and I needed to because it hurt so badly. The sound wasn't about to stop either, and it felt like I was going to spend the rest of eternity this way. I gathered the strength to close my eyes so I could concentrate on my thoughts.

As quick as it came, the screaming had stopped. I was relieved to be able to think again, and to form thoughts inside of my brain. Then, the feeling of relief had vanished to be replaced with a feeling of eeriness. The feeling grew inside of me, and spread from the beginning of my throat to the pit of my stomach.

I opened my eyes to see that I have come face-to-face with the woman. We were so close that I could hear her short breaths entering and exiting her lungs. Her eyes didn't blink while they stared into mine. The intensity from her look made me think she was reading me to the core of my soul. She, then, whispered so quick I could barely hear her,"Wake up, she's coming."

My body shot up from the shock and lack of breath. My heavy breathing filled my ears as I gathered my surroundings. I shielded my eyes from the blinding light coming from above. I looked up to see the light was coming from the sun.

Where am I?, I thought. I was confused, I did not know where I was. I had believed that I had died in the alleyway in front of the door. I looked down to see that I was sitting in the middle of a field. The grass had tickled my bare skin that was exposed from the dress that I had been wearing before. Instead of there being insects, there were different fairy beings that flew around me while leaving a dust-like substance. It was the substance that I had seen in my room around the clock before I left. There were also deer that were scattered around the field either eating or bathing in the sun. They seemed to have accepted my presence because they weren't scared that I was there. Everything was so beautiful that I had difficulty soaking in my surroundings.

I stood up to see a castle in the distance, as if it had come from a fairytale. The castle gave a sense of power over the creatures, but the power was respectful.
