I stood at her grave. Tears slid down my face.
Here lies Alice Marie Colt.
Beloved daughter, granddaughter, and friend.
And savoir I thought. "Hey Alice. I'm sorry I haven't been around in a while. I followed your advice. I got into college, I have a new friend named Jason. I also threw away the beanie." I laughed and sat down in the grass still dewey from the morning that had yet to appear. "I miss you Alice. I miss you so much it hurts love. But I have a letter for you. And know where ever you are I will always love you Alice Colt."
I sat and watched as the first rays of dawn showed their faces. "Goodbye for now Alice." I placed the letter down and left quickly as my legs could take.
I made Alice Colt a promise and when you make her a promise you never break it. And for some reason somewhere inside of me knew she was laughing and saying promise me to live. To live with happiness and love like she did. And all I could say was,
"I promise Alice Colt."
