"Where are we going?" I asked, for the twentieth time.
Hayes and I are going on our three year anniversary date, and he won't tell me where it is. We've been driving for what feels like three hours, but I'm not sure exactly.
"You'll see babe," he said, holding my hand.
"You're not going to kill me are you?" I laughed, and so did he.
"Nope, but don't peak!" he shouted, laughing.
"Alright, alright, fine," I said.
I was playing with one of the frills on my dress when we came to a stop. I'm not sure what kind of stop, like if we're here or not, but I stopped playing with my dress frills.
"Okay, we're here. But don't open still, I have to guide you there," he said, opening my car door. He shut both doors, and we began to walk.
I felt things crumbling under my feet, branches? gravel? I don't know.
"Okay, I'm going to remove the blindfold if you don't mind, or you can keep it on," he said, and I could tell he'd be smiling.
"No, no take it off now please," I said, and he did just that.
I opened my eyes and we were on top of a little bridge. There was a bunch of little candles lining the top of it, and there was a little picture thing attached to the bridge. I went up to it and pulled it off, reading it. It was a text, and I sent to him : for one of our anniversary's, can we have a candlelight picnic on a bridge?
I looked up at him, probably with the biggest, goofiest smile on my face. I flung my arms around him, holding him as tight as I could, without strangling him.
"This is the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me Hayes, oh my goodness, I love it so much, I love YOU so much," I said, kissing him between every other word.
He smiled and I went to go take an actual good look. All along the top of the bridge was lit candles, underneath a red cloth, is what it looked like. The center of the bridge had a blanket on it, with a picnic basket on top, along with a radio.
He took my hand and went to the middle, and we sat down. He pulled out many things, like an average picnic would have. Hayes knew that's what I've always wanted; a fancy date, not so fancy food. I don't know why I wanted to do something like that, but I did, and it's happening.
"Ham? Turkey?" he asked, and I smiled.
I grabbed the Turkey one from him, smiling and I said thank you. After we ate, we just talked. About a lot of things, and it was probably the best date him and i have ever been on. He's such a gentleman and so thoughtful when it comes to dates and being kind to me, I seriously could never ask for anyone better than him. He's my everything.
"Wanna go take a look at something with me?" He asked, smiling, and I nodded.
"Is someone gonna steal any of this?"
"I don't think so, no, the set up has been here for about an hour or so before we got here, it'll be fine. Don't worry, I had someone drop the basket off like five minutes before we got here so that didn't sit there for that long," he laughed, and i did, too.
I grabbed his hands as we walked to the other side of the bridge, walking in the grass, along the pond. We were walking for ten minutes until we stopped, after climbing a hill. When we reached the top, all you could see was a little overview of a small portion of the town. The sun was about to set, and the town lights began to pop out, since it was getting darker.
"This is so pretty," I said, smiling at him, grabbing his hands and locking my fingers in between his.
"Almost as pretty as you, as cheesy as that sounds," he laughed a little, and I smiled.
He opened his arm and I leaned onto his shoulder, and he wrapped his arm around me, putting his chin on the top of my head.
"Oh, stop it," I said, kissing his cheek.
"Wanna watch the sunset? We've never done that before," he said, looking at the view.
"Mhm," I said taking one of my arms and wrapping it around one of his.
We watched the sunset, the pinks and orange colors clashing with the blue, making a beautiful, breathe taking scene. Hayes and I walked back to the picnic area and grabbed all the things, leading it back to the car, putting it in the trunk.
"Thank you, Hayes, for today, it was so amazing. It meant a lot to me, I really, really hope you know that," I said, when I got in the car and when he did, too.
He smiled and kissed my lips softly, opening up the glovebox in front of me, pulling out a little jewelry box.
"Now, Im not asking you to marry me, yet. God would I love to, but I'm going to wait a little bit longer. But I have this promise ring for you. I promise to love you and treat you the way you deserve to be treated," he smiled, pulling out the adorable knot ring.
"Oh my god Hayes," I say, my eyes brimming with tears, "I love it, thank you so much," I said, hugging him, before kissing him with ton of passion. God, do I love this boy...
