The Lullaby

Chapter 6

Jeff practically walked through the crowd of S.W.A.T members taking them out one by one. Jane followed slowly behind Jeff with her knife prepared for anything.

When Jeff was finished, there was a massacre on the front lawn. Jane looked up at Jeff and smiled." Good job" she said breathlessly. Jeff looked at her, his eyes filled with worry.

" Are you okay Jane" he asked. Jane chuckled nervously. Jeff scanned her body for any injuries. She seemed to be holding her stomach. Jeff could see her trembling, as if she were going to pass out. But from what? He watched as Jane's eyes suddenly began to roll to the back of her head.

Jeff reached quickly for her as she began to fall. He caught her fairly early from hitting the ground." I should've known this was going to happen" Jeff said angrily.

He carefully picked her up and began running do the street away from her house." W-where are t-taking me" Jane asked weakly. Jeff kept running as Jane slowly lost consciousness.

When Jane woke up, she was in a hospital bed with Jeff sitting beside her. She starred into his eyes. But the look in them was not the same. He looked like something was on his mind.

"What's wrong Jeff, I can see in your eyes that something is bothering you" she said. Jeff jumped from Jane's voice." Oh no, its nothing" Jeff said. Jane gave him concerned look." I just don't want to talk about it" he said." Oh, okay that's fine, but if you do want to talk about it later on, I'm always here" Jane said.

Jeff nodded and gave Jane a kiss. Jane continued to admire Jeff from her bed. Just then, there was a knock at the door." Come on in" Jane said. The doctor walked in looking at a small stack of papers in his hand. "Ms. Jane, is it" the doctor said.

Jane nodded and sat up." Well I have some good news, you'll be able to leave tonight" the doctor said. He handed her a piece of paper to be released. All she had to do was sign it.
