To make Metal even more brutal is the mosh pit. The mosh pit is brutal because in the pit people would make full body contact and people would sustain injuries it would get violent but that's metal. An incident occurred in the year of 1996 which resulted in fatalities when the Smashing Pumpkins were playing a concert in Dublin,Ireland 2 boys were crushed in the mosh pit, they died at the hospital but the Smashing Pumpkins took a stand against moshing because of this incident. The singer of the Smashing Pumpkins Billy Corgan said to the audience: " I just want to say to you, collage lughead-types. I've been watchin' people like you sluggin' around another people for seven years. And you know what? It's the same shit. I wished you'd understand that in an environment like this, and in a setting like this, it's fairly inappropriate and unfair to the rest of the people around you. I, and we, publicly take a stand against moshing."
