Merlin woke up with the sun in his eyes, he looked up to see Arthur getting read to leave. "How close are we to Avalon?" Merlin asked. "A few days on horse." Arthur went to help up Merlin and get him on the horse. "I don't think I have that long." Merlin said solemnly. "We don't have any other choice." Arthur got on his own horse and started to ride. Merlin soon followed, "Actually, there might be. We need to find a clearing." "Why?" Arthur stopped the horse. "I told you, I am the son of a dragon lord. It is gift that is passed from father to son." Arthur sat in thought a moment, "What are you planning?" Merlin smiled and continued on, "Oh, you'll see."

It wasn't to long till they stumbled upon a break in the trees, "Ooh dragon! Emiaa zumei tako matta destupalika!" Arthur watched in amazement as the great dragon flapped his wings and landed in front of them. "Merlin." Kilgharra was surprised, "This I was not expecting. You defied the prophecy?" "I couldn't let Arthur die." "Arthur's death had been foretold for hundreds of years, but yours was not spoken of." Arthur got a little closer, "Can you  help us?" Kilgharra turned to the king, "King Arthur. You would let a dragon help your friend? One that has proved himself so dangerous?" "He knows, about my magic." Merlin started coughing, "Please Kilgharra, it was a sword forged in the breath of a dragon, Aithusa." "You know I can not deny you young warlock. What is it you want me to do?" "Take us to the lake of Avalon, that is the only place with magic powerful enough to heal such a wound." Kilgharra nodded and lowered himself closer to the ground. Arthur looked to Merlin, "Are you serious?" Merlin shrugged, "It's the fastest way." Arthur got off the horse and carried Merlin to the dragons back. He paused before actually getting on the dragon. He looked at Merlin who was clutching his stomach. Merlin looked back to Arthur and smiled, "We can trust Kilgharra." Arthur nodded and climbed the dragons back.

The dragons wings began flapping and Arthur held on for dear life. They were up in the clouds with hundreds of trees beneath them. "Beautiful isn't it." Merlin chuckled. Arthur was so scared, but the view was amazing. After some time they landed in front of the lake, "Thank you." Merlin started, "I wish  I could repay you." The dragon smiled as Arthur slowly got down, taking Merlin with him. "I am happy to help you young warlock. Never have I met one with a kinder heart." With that the dragon flew away. Arthur helped Merlin walk to the shore. "Giaus said the sorcerer would be here." Arthur said looking around. "Giaus meant me." Merlin started walking into the water. Arthur stood at the shore, "He said it was one of the greatest sorcerers to walk the earth." Merlin smiled weakly, "That's me." Merlin was waist deep in the water, he could feel the magic radiating around him. he placed his hands over his wound, "Animor tupicer gemmar folido crepiranra pallemi defixil thoreilay" As Merlin spoke his body seemed to illuminate with power.

Arthur had never known of this part of Merlin's life. He thought he knew him, but there was so much he never knew. Such harrowing things that Merlin had done. Arthur had been through much in his life. He had watched people he loved die, he felt the weight of a destiny and having secrets. He would have never guessed how much Merlin had also been though, just like him. He wanted to know more about Merlin that he didn't know existed.  Merlin kept in-canting until the light faded. Merlin fell backwards in the water, "Merlin?!" Arthur ran to Merlin as he slowly sank deeper. Arthur pulled Merlin up and dragged him to shore. "Merlin? Come on." Arthur tried shaking Merlin's shoulders, "Merlin!" Merlin started coughing up some water, his chest started to rise and fall, "Arthur." Merlin's voice was just a whisper, "Don't worry." "What happened?" Merlin wouldn't open his eyes, but he still breathed. "Merlin?" He tried to wake him again, but it didn't work. "Get some rest." Arthur sighed and pulled Merlin farther from the water.

Meanwhile in Camelot the knights had returned home and Gwen had to tell them where Arthur was. She couldn't tell the the whole truth, but at least she could say he was safe. Gwen gathered; Giaus, Gwaine, Percival and Leon in the Throne room. Gwaine was the last to enter the room, "Where's Arthur and Merlin?" "Arthur is fine. He's with Merlin." Gwen started, "Merlin was badly injured, Giaus couldn't help. But there is someone who might be able to save him. Arthur is taking him there now." "Where are they." Gwaine started to panic a little, he was worried for his friend. "They're safe Gwaine, but we have our own problems in Camelot. I believe someone gave Morgana information which led to the battle in Camlan." "A traitor?" Leon asked, "Who." Giaus looked to Gwaine. "The lady Eira."

Morgana stood in front of the grave she made for Mordred. She stuck his sword into the ground, "We will have our revenge." Her eyes started to water as she left back to her lair. She ordered her men to find Arthur. She sat in her throne as the search party came back, "My lady, we have searched every valley, gorge, gully, the king is nowhere to be found." "I want him dead!" She screamed to them.  "We've looked-" One started to protest, but Morgana started choking him. The man dropped dead, "Find him." She ordered. The men quickly left. Leaving Morgana to sit and wait, only getting more impatient.

Night fell on the land as Arthur waited by the lake. he made a small fire to keep warm, and he had started to get hungry. They had left all their supplies with the horses. Arthur didn't want to leave Merlin long enough to go hunt.  Merlin started to  stir in his sleep. "Merlin?" Merlin's eyes opened, he looked over to Arthur and smiled. "Merlin!" Arthur gave a little chuckle, "I thought that I'd lost you." Merlin laughed, "I can't die, you wouldn't last a day without me." "What happened?" Merlin sat up, "It took a lot of magic. I was already injured as well, that only made it harder. I just ran out of energy, but i'm fine now." Arthur squinted, "I didn't know magic could take energy." "Well not all of it, some things are easier than others." They sat there fore a moment in silence. "I'm starving." Merlin said. "Well we left all our food when we met with the dragon, and I doubt we could catch something in the dark." " How about some fruit?." Merlin clapped his hands together. "What do you mean, there are no fruit growing here." Merlin smiled, "Watch, Blosmeh." Merlin opened his hands to reveal an apple. He tossed it to Arthur who was shocked. "Are you sure it's safe?" Merlin made another and took a bite, "Tastes fine to me." With hesitation Arthur nibbled at the apple, to his surprise it was delicious. "You should have told me about your magic sooner. There were so many times this could've really come in handy." Merlin stopped chewing and looked at Arthur, "Are you serious?" "What?" "You would've accepted my magic for some apples?" Arthur shrugged, "They're good."
