"Tell us all about her, and why you're walking with a limp." Arthur smiled. Merlin walked over to Gwen and poured her drink, "Right." "What's her name?" Arthur leaned back taking a drink. Merlin wasn't quite sure what to say. He didn't see any girl, he's only had one. "Her name was Freya." Merlin could try to avoid it, but he decided it was time Arthur realize at least one thing he had been through. "And where does this Freya girl live?" "She rest at the lake of Avalon." Merlin set down the pitcher. Arthur set down his cup, "What do yo mean rest there?" Merlin blinked away the threat of tears, "She died a few years ago." Arthur looked down. "I'm so sorry Merlin." Gwen said. "How did you know her?" Arthur asked. Merlin sighed while deciding if he should tell the truth or not, "I helped her run away from a bounty hunter." "Was she some sort of criminal?" Gwen questioned. Merlin shook his head a little, "No, she didn't do anything wrong. She was a druid." Merlin looked to Arthur. "You helped a druid escape?" Arthur leaned back. "So did you." Merlin retorted, "She wasn't guilty of anything. I just wanted to help her." Gwen leaned forward, "What happened to her?" Merlin started to regret telling them anything, he didn't realize how painful it would be to retell it. "She was injured by a knight, trying to escape Camelot. She didn't have a lot of time left. She had told me of her home, about how beautiful the mountains were and the lake in the summer. So I took to the lake of Avalon. I thought she'd like it there. She said it was perfect and then she just. Died." Merlin took a deep breath and quickly wiped away tears forming in his eyes. "When did this happen?" Arthur looked up at Merlin, "You never mentioned her before." "Years ago. She was a druid. I would have been killed for hiding her." Arthur closed his eyes and sighed, "I'm sorry. I never realized... I didn't know you were going through something like that." Merlin gave a small smile, "You noticed, you just didn't know what it was." A lot of emotions and memories started coming up when Merlin spoke of her, "If you'll excuse me I think I need to retire-" "of course," Gwen spoke up, "We can take care of our selves." Merlin gave a little nod and left the room. Arthur slumped in his chair, "I guess I don't know much about Merlin outside of Camelot." "Well," Gwen stood up and walked to Arthur, "you could always ask him about it. Who knows what secrets he's hiding."
