Comforting

Tonight was like every other Saturday. I was at Trevor's house and we were eating chips and Tweeting random things. We were both really bored. "Hey, you wanna watch The Visit? It's really funny." I flinched. I was really freaked out by horror movies, no matter how ridiculous. I didn't want to seem scared though so I said "Sure, I-I'd like that. Gotta love a good horror, right?" He seemed so excited, the complete opposite of how I felt. He went on Netflix and found it quickly. I snuggled in close to him. The movie started.

In a matter of minutes, I was screaming and crying. "No, Trev, she's gonna get me! I'm gonna die! I don't wanna die!" I could tell I was having a panic attack but I couldn't stop it. Then Trev's soothing voice came in my ear. "It's ok cutie. Nothing can hurt you, not with me here. I'll protect you." His voice calmed me down a little. I had stopped screaming. Now it was just tears streaming down my face. "Cutie, if you didn't like horror movies, you could have just told me. We could have watched Mean Girls! It's ok. You can tell me anything."

I decided that I should tell him. "I know it's stupid, but when I was little, I used to have really bad dreams. The doctors told me to stay away from anything scary. I didn't even go out on Halloween. It was that bad. I didn't tell you because people used to bully me about it. I didn't want to lose you." Trevor looked genuinely sympathetic. "Oh cutie, I'll never leave you. If you couldn't watch the movie, I wouldn't have teased you. That's not something to joke about. It's your health, it's ok to not do something." He pecked me on the cheek. "Now let's put on Mean Girls and live it up. Yaassss!" I laughed and smiled. "There's that adorable smile. Glad I could see it tonight." Then we cuddled and watched Mean Girls, quoting every line. I think I fell asleep on his shoulder.
