It was her. Stephanie Rose. Wow, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw her running into the classroom. To my suprise when she passed my desk, she glanced at me, and I pictured it as slow motion. Like a movie. Her long, blonde, waved hair was flowing behind her with her beautiful patterned dress. I felt my eyes pop out a little when I caught myself staring at her as she was talking to Mr. Fitz. I hadn't gotten a chance to look at her face though. I can just imagine it from the last day of school for my junior year, but that was the last time I saw it. I had a little glimpse of it when she passed by me, and I think that it was perfect. That doesn't really matter to me though. I care more about her personality. I had her last year in my photogrophy class. She was so responsible and always participating in everything in that class. The times that she talked to me made my heart melt. I can't even describe how I feel towards her. And to not see her this summer killed me. But I tried to put her on the side for a little while and I guess it worked. I honestly forgot about her, until now of course.
"Why don't you go take that extra seat next to Marcel over there." I heard Mr. Fitz say. I took my eyes off of Stephanie right when Mr. Fitz spoke and I looked back up pretending to notice when he said my name.
She looked at him with a blank face, looked at me with the same expression, then she smiled at me about four seconds later. It was like she was studying me for a while. I guess I had a pleasant look on my face, I was trying to look confused, okay. She got all her stuff then she sat to my right. I sat up straight in my chair to look good at least for her.
"Alright class. As I was saying, everyone print your name and put your signature at the bottom once you read it through it. Or at least skim though it."
I noticed that I finished reading it before her. She looked in her bag/puse thing in the front pocket and said, "Damn it."
"Shh." Mr. Fitz demanded.
She didn't even bother to look at him, which I though was funny. It was like she was really close with Mr. Fitz which I think is cool.
I spoke up and whispered, "H-Hey Stephanie, are you okay?"
"Yeah, I just forgot a pen again," she looked up at me and shrugged scrambling through her bag, "typical me right?! Forgetting it on the first day of school." She shook her head and had a cute smirk on her face.
"Here," I held mine out in front of me, "use mine."
"Are you sure?"
"Definently! I have plenty in my backpack." I caught myself sounding a little nerdy.
"Aww, thanks Marcel. You're so nice!" She showed her teeth in her smile this time.
The rest of class I literally couldn't pay attention in class because I kept seeing her in the corner of my eye. Her makeup was perfect today, and she looked gorgeous. Her green colored eyes that sort of matched mine but better really, and her eyelashes look thick as they stick out. It was my favorite feature on a girl. I perfer her without makeup, though. She is the only one I had my eyes on since Freshman year, and she was sitting right next to me.
Mr. Fitz was finishing up his last words after he assigned us homework: to get the paper signed. "I hope you all had a great first day of school!"
We were ordered to pack up and Stephanie held out the pen to give back to me. "No, it's okay," I hesitated to say, "just keep it. Like I said, I have plenty more-" The bell cut me off by it ringing.
As we both stood up, she put her arm around me, saying, "thank you" while patting my shoulder. She walked out of the door with her dress swaying in a beautiful motion. 'What is wrong with me' I say to myself shaking my head. Of course, I'm the last one out of the room and no one could hear me except Mr. Fitz.
"You okay there Marcel?"
"Yes, I'm fine, Sir." I responded as my cheeks started to heat up.
"Haha, okay. Have a nice rest of the day."
"You too, Sir."
After exiting the classroom, I went straight to my locker. It always got crowded where I was and I didn't want to be shoved by hundreds of people. I made it on time, got all the books I needed and started to walk home. i didn't even bother texting or calling Harry because I knew that he wouldn't answer me anyways. I wish I had a walking home buddy, though. I guess it's okay, I mean, I have been walking home for almost my whole high school life.
I started to walk down the crowded street, on the sidewalk of course. I saw Stephanie walking near me, and as I turned the corner, she crossed the street. I was scared, and sort of shaking, I don't know why. She probably noticed that I am in front of her. I kept walking, thinking about the fact that she is walking the same way I am. I hear a car nearly behind me speed up to park about two houses in front of me. As I started to come near the parked car, Harry popped his head out of the passenger seat.
"Hey! Brother, get in!"
"You're offering me a ride? Seriously?"
"Yeah, come on dude, hurry up!"
I hurriedly entered the vehicle, forgetting that Stephanie was probably watching. I was going to ask Harry why he would all of a sudden his friend and him ask me for a ride, but I didn't want to start anything. I'm just happy I don't have to walk in this ridiculous weather. Keeping quiet as I entered the car, I saw Harry smile at something behind me and I didn't bother to look because I was trying to put my backpack in the back.
As Harry's friend dropped us off at our house, I realized that our family car is gone. My mom probably went to run errands or something. As much as I didn't want to be home alone with Harry, I was sort of happy by him taking me home. He always got a ride with his friends in the past years, and I was always the one to come home later than he did from walking home. My mom would always ask why we would get home at different times and Harry would always make up a stupid excuse and my mom would buy it. It was so stupid. I'm actually in a good mood because this is the first day of school and maybe he might do this everyday. I also have to give credit to Harrys friend for being the driver. When they go off campus to go to lunch, they switch off driving, I think. So technically, they are sharing the car.
Anyways, I went up to my room to get settled. I like doing my homework right away because I can get it out of the way and have my own time to read a book, surf the internet, or just think. Today, all I have to do is make my mom sign a lot of papers. So I got it all together, putting it in a pile, with a ballpoint pen all ready for her. I go downstairs to put it on a counter. I don't really like going up and down the stairs so I just want to stay downstairs for a while. I open the pantry to get my banana. I don't see it.
"Harry!" I say to myself.
"Harry!!" I call, "Harry? Harry, where are you?" I searched.
Where did he go? I checked both downstairs and upstairs. I couldn't find him anywhere. I peeked outside the front window to see harry talking to a girl. I couldn't see her face, though, and she looked somewhat familiar. As I was examining her for 5 seconds, Harry spotted me staring at the two and I quickly ducked my head. Scared of my life, I sprinted upstairs and sat on top of my bed sheets, grabbing a book off my shelf.
Hearing the front door open and slam, I hid my face with my book.
