Finish Line

Chapter 3

Sydney 

After the doctor cleaned and stitched my wound I went looking for Luke. I had a bandage over my forehead. I couldn’t get the wound wet for 48 hours so the stitches can heal fast. Luke looks at me when he sees me. He asks the nurse about the cut and was told the same thing about the list of don’ts.

Luke drives me back to the dorm after he picks up take out of my favorite meal for. Stacy was waiting for us in the parking lot. I look at Luke and he smiles.

“I called her earlier. I can’t help you up to your room because the land lady might report me” he says. I get out off his car while he carries the take out bag.

“Man, you almost gave me a heart attack” she hugs me.

“No worries. Just being clumsy” I point to my forehead and she wrinkles her nose in disgust.

Luke reminds me to call him if I needed any help. I hug look and thank him before Stacy and I head to the dorm to enjoy some comfort food.

Jake 

After classes I head back to the dorm to charge my phone so I could call Luke.

“Hey, I just got out of class” Luke answers

“What happened earlier? Dad called me when he got a hold of you, said you had to bring someone to the hospital?”

“Yeah” his only response

“What happened?” I ask

“Sydney got into an accident” he says and it stops me

“What? What happened? Is she okay? What hospital is she in?” I ask in panic. I start to head to my car.

“She called me earlier to ask for a ride to the hospital since Stacy was in class. She tripped and hit her head. She got stitches but she’s okay. I brought her back to her dorm already and Stacy’s taking care of her” he explains.

“Are you sure she’s okay? She has stitches” I ask

“Yeah she is”

“Okay. Thanks for telling me. Will you check up on her tomorrow?” I ask him

“Sure Jake” he hangs up.

I drive around school and park along the road in front of Syd’s dorm. I want to visit her. I want to make sure she’s okay. I stay for a good house before heading home to sleep.

Sydney 

Luke visits me the next day to check up on me before he heads to class. I treat him for a cheeseburger at The Shack before he left. Stacy and I had two review classes today. Classmates kept on asking me the same questions about my banged up forehead.

I took the gauges and bandages out today. The stitches are healed and you can barely see them. There’s still some redness around it but it doesn’t hurt anymore. I still put a band aid on it.

Jake 

I saw Sydney a couple of times yesterday and today. I called Luke and he informed me that her stitches have healed fast. I could see the band aid on her forehead when I see her from afar. There was still visible bruising but she looks okay. I know Stacy was taking care of her but I just wanted to be sure.
