Sydney
Stacy brings me to my seat before she heads to hers. Jake left us because he got a call from his coach for a team meeting. I see Jake taking his seat and he winks at me.
Jake
I hope my team knows what to do. It was my last minute idea but they all agreed to help me out. I’m glad coach didn’t think it was a stupid idea. I hope it works.
Sydney
When Jake gets his diploma he smiles at me then salutes his family in the bleachers. Dad was recording everything while Luke and Maddie were cheering loudly.
Now it’s my turn. My name is called and Stacy appears beside me out of nowhere. She grabs my hand and helps me up the stairs. I squeeze her hand before she lets go. I take my time walking to the middle where the school directors hand out the diplomas.
“Congratulations Sydney” I shake their hands.
I look out and see everyone giving me a standing ovation. I see the football team holding out a banner that says ‘You did it Sydney’. I wipe my tears and laugh at them. They’re so sweet. I look out on the stands and see even the parents are standing up. I see Maddie waving at me and I wave back at her. Luke winks at me and dad blows me a kiss. I look for Jake in his seat but he isn’t there or anywhere else. I look back to Stacy and she just points to the other end of the stage. I turn to see Jake waiting for me. I smile at him and start walking towards him while the crowd’s still cheering me on.
Jake
I see her smile, her tears and her laughter. She spots me and just like during therapy she starts to walk towards me. She knows she’s getting a kiss but I’m giving her more than that.
