Smiles interrupted
Just a word or phrase
Hooking into your skin
Dragging you back to the dark placeThe memories, the nightmares
The grief, the pain
You thought you were strong
your fragility astoundingThe war drums echo throughout your skull
The battle to regain composure ensues
soul vs. mindIn a strike of lightning your temperature plummets
Ashen skin with goose bumps
Marching across your body in armies
the defending sheen sheet of sweat
Drapes across youFinally the merciless war criminals
Escape trembling eyes
The prisoners with vengeance in mind
Hastily, Slickly sliding down cheeks
Acid that burns cold
The silent tortureThe futile war is over
There is no victory
Both sides crumpled in despairA beacon that draws unwanted attention
A bystander carefully asks
"Are you okay"Broken eyes begging for mercy
As lips form deceitful shields
"Yes, just fine"
