Shades Of Reality

I wake up with a jolt,
Unkowingly gasping for air,
Still hearing my heart beating furiously.

I am no more caught up in that place I loathe,
In that situation which I thought would decide my fate.

Reality greets me,
The truth starts settling in,
Relief washes away that anxious feeling.

For that part of my mind which is still anxious,
Sighing I whisper reassuringly,
'It was just a dream'

Reality is not always bitter, not always hurtful.
With time it unveils its different fiery shades.
