"I can do this. It's just like practice. I can do this," I said, trying to warm myself up to what I'm about to do. However, the thoughts running through my head tells a different story.
No, I can't! This is SO not practice?! No, no, no... Oh god...
I repeated my mantra when I heard the change in the beat of the music. Glancing up to the booth, I saw Logan nod at me with a small smile.
This is really happening... Shit!
After a few seconds, the music suddenly stopped and the lights on the dance floor went out. The club goers reacted with gasps, startled shouts and others even booed.
Get ready...
I took a couple of deep breaths and waited for my queue.
DJ... DJ Highness...
Suddenly, the lights over the dance floor started flashing
Now!
Get on the dance floor...
I quickly turned my Flow Wand on and slowly walked to the center of the open space while "levitating" the it between my hands.
DJ... DJ Highness... Get on the dance floor...
Feeling the crowd's attention on me, I focused on doing some basic tricks while moving to the beat of the music that sped up.
On the dance floor... On the dance floor... On the dance floor...
As one of my favorite dance songs played, I span around while letting the string connected to the loop around my finger extend far away from my body. Taking a quick glance around, I noticed that the crowd grew and some were already holding glow sticks while swaying to the music.
Good, I thought to myself and smiled. Maybe my plan will work... Maybe we can turn the tide around and get these people moving...
Earlier in the evening, I was getting really desperate because no one was enjoying their time at the club. As the DJ, that's not good. Not good at all.
But thankfully, I remembered the boxes of glow sticks that I discovered in storage at the back of the club and came up with the idea of having a quick lights show and then a mini rave party.
Quinn was hesitant about the whole thing when I explained it to him, while Logan just shrugged. But telling him that people might start walking out if we don't do anything, Quinn quickly changed his mind and gave me the go ahead. After he exited the booth, I quickly removed my kimono duster and rushed to my vehicle to get my prop.
I never danced in front of people before. No. Scratch that. I never performed anything in front of strangers before. But I was strangely enjoying this.
I smirked.
This is actually a lot of fun...
And thank god I wore black seamless boy shorts instead of regular undies... I thought as I lifted one leg and then the next to twirl the wand around and under my legs.
Suddenly, the hair on the back of my neck rose and I felt it again and I knew that I wasn't imagining things earlier. Someone was definitely watching my every move, and though it didn't feel sinister, it was still so unsettling that I almost lost my rhythm.
Shit!!
Thankfully, that's when I noticed the crowd parting to give way to five women. The newcomers stopped and stood at the edge of the dance floor with their stares locked on me. They looked like they're ready for a confrontation with their hands either on their hips or crossed in front of them.
