Bucky gave me a huge smile as I knocked on Clint's door. Laura opened it and gave me a wide smile. "Nat, Bucky! I'm so happy to see you guys!"

I hugged Laura and said, "We were in the area so I figured we'd come visit you guys."

Laura gave Bucky a hug and we walked into the house. It was clean, like it always was. Clint was sitting on the couch eating a piece of pizza. He gave us a slight wave.

"Where are you're kids at Laura?" I asked, looking around.

"Lila and Cooper are at school, but they'll be home soon. And Nathaniel is currently taking a nap," Laura said.

"Do you guys have any food? I'm starving," Bucky said.

Laura laughed a bit and said, "Ya, there is some pizza on the stove in the kitchen if you want it."

Bucky nodded and went into the kitchen. As soon as Bucky was in the kitchen, two kids burst into the house. They came in shrieking and laughing. As soon as they saw me, they yelled, "Where's Uncle Bucky?"

I frowned a bit and said, "Hi guys! He's in the kitchen getting some food."

The two ran into the kitchen and I could hear muffled yelling. Clint and Laura smiled. Clint finished his slice of pizza and said, "Looks like Bucky has replaced you as the kid's favorite."

"Not yet. In 10 years, when they're in their teens, they'll want to talk to Aunt Nat because she can keep secrets non like somebody," I said sarcastically.

Clint laughed and Laura smiled. "Are you guys thinking of having kids?" Laura said.

I became flustered as soon as she asked the question. Memories filled my mind of a blank room, doctors, and needles. The screaming and yelling. Young women crying as doctors tried to calm them. Kids were something I could never have. Not even if I wanted to.

Clint could tell I was shaken up and tried to give me a smile. "I'm sure Bucky would make a great dad. Like look how good he is with our kids."

They didn't know about what had happened in the red room. I had never told anyone about it, deciding it was best to keep it a secret from everyone else. Laura and Clint had probably just suspected that I was worried that Bucky wouldn't make a good father.

"It's not that I'm worried about. I know Bucky would be the best father ever. But I-I just... never mind," I said, looking down at my hands.

It was silent and I looked up at them. They both looked confused. Laura gasped when she had figured it out and I wanted to cry. Clint looked back and forth between us, still trying to figure out what was going on.

"Oh you poor thing. How did we never know?" Laura said. Her arms were out wide.

I hugged her and started to cry. I was upset with myself for ever letting this happen. For allowing them to do this to me. I had let myself become a monster for them and they had taken away everything I ever wanted.

That's when Clint had finally figured out what was going on. "Oh Natasha, I'm so sorry. Why'd you never tell us?" Clint said.

Although I was crying, I tried to answer. "I-I... just never... wa-wanted... anyone to k-know."

"It's okay Nat. Have you told Buck?" Laura said soothingly.

"No, I don't want to," I said.

"I think you should tell him. He deserves to know," Clint said with a small smile.

We ended up staying for dinner and left in the evening. When we got home, I just wanted to cuddle up in bed and sleep. I was exhausted. But Bucky had other ideas.

"You've been awfully quiet. You didn't say a thing the whole way home," Bucky said.

I felt like crying again. I didn't want to cry in front of Bucky, so I held back the tears and said, "I'm just tired."

Bucky didn't believe me. I could tell from the way he was looking at me. I looked down at my feet trying to blink the tears away. I couldn't tell him about what was going on.

"Nat, are you okay?" Bucky said.

And with that, I burst out crying. It wasn't a soft cry like it had been earlier, it was now loud sobs. My body was shaking and I could barely see. I could feel Bucky's arms around me and I buried my head in his chest.

"Hey, hey it's okay," Bucky said softly, "What's wrong? You can tell me."

I didn't say anything for a while. Bucky didn't push me to tell him. He just held me there as I cried. When my crying started to soften, I decided to tell him. Even if it made him think I was a monster.

"Ja-James, do you want kids?" I whispered.

Bucky could barely hear me and said, "Ya I'd love to have kids. Why?"

I tried to keep the sobs back so he could understand what I was saying. "Th-That's something I could never give you. I-I can't have kids," I said.

I started to sob again and it was quiet for a bit. I wanted Bucky to say something, anything. Even if it was to tell me that I was a monster and it was my fault that I couldn't have kids.

"When I was in the Red Room, they made all the girls get sterilized. They said it would be one less distraction for us. Something that couldn't get in the way of missions. I'm sorry Bucky, I'm so so sorry," I whispered.

Bucky looked at me and gave me a sad smile. "Nat, it's okay. It's not your fault. This could never have been your fault. This is those horrible people's faults, they had no right to do this to you."

"But, what about kids? I can't give you that," I said.

Bucky smiled and said, "Hey there's always adoption. That's an option. I love you Nat."

I smiled at him. "I love you too."
