Just another jily fanfic

Chapter 6

James POV

I ran down the hall with Sirius as fast as I could without letting the invisibility cloak slip down over us. Beginning of the year prank was proud Hogwarts tradition that we had taken upon our self's to create and maintain, every year trying to outdo the last. This year it was just me and padfoot, moony claiming that he couldn't get behind on homework and wormtail had apparently just eaten 3 boxes of Bertie Bots every flavor beans and would be out of commission until madam Pomfrey cleared him to leave the hospital wing. 

" Small fire!! I said to set a small fire! That was not small!" I yelled at Sirius as we rounded the corner.

"It was small and then it just got bigger! If I had now you were going to be so particular then I would have told you to do it!"

"We are going to get caught!!"

It's not like they wouldn't know it was us anyways!"

"But that's the beauty of our plans Sirius! They never have enough evidence to say for certain it was us! They know it was but there is no prof! If we were sloppy like this then all the time we would have been expelled by now!"

"I get it, I get it. Now where are we going to go?! The common room and the room of requirement are too far away to get to!" Sirius puffed as we ran up another flight of stairs. I pulled off the invisibility cloak and stuffed it into by bag as we ran. It was doing more harm than good at this point.

"Follow me" I said as I ran in the direction of the heads common room, praying that Lily was still in the library. I got to the portrait murmured "Godric" and slammed the door shut behind Sirius. I looked at him as he slid onto the floor and flashed me a smile. I wiped my forehead  on my sleeve and turned around to plop onto one of the arm chairs. That's when I saw Lily, Remus and the new guy, were already there, staring at us. Remus and Lil had the same look that said "What the hell did you do now?" while Grayson- that was his name right? just looked confused.

"Whatever happens, whoever comes knocking, we've been here for at least an hour." I decided

"Don't drag me into this!!" exclaimed Lily "I wasn't the one who went looking for trouble!"

"I don't go looking for trouble but I do enjoy befriending it. And it wasn't trouble, it was just the beginning of the year prank. If you want to blame anyone for it not going as planned, blame Remus for not coming with us and making sure Padfoot didn't do anything stupid. Or, I suppose you could blame padfoot for doing something stupid. It's not my fault he can't start a proper fire."

"You set something on fire!?" Moony and Lily screeched at the same time.

"Well it was just suppose to be a small one to finish everything off, but like I said, Sirius can't seem to grasp that concept." 

"I'm sorry but who are you?" Grayson asked. I almost forgot he was there.

"James Potter. And that's Sirius Black." Sirius waved from his spot on the floor by the door. "And if you don't mind me asking what are you doing in here?"

"Oh well I'm new so professor Slughorn told me to ask Lily if I needed any help figuring out the homework for his class."

"Oh" I replied simply, laying across an armchair with my legs hanging off the side.

"Well it was nice to have met you but I'm going to go. Thanks Lily I'll give you your notes back tomorrow. Bye Remus." And with that he walked out, looking far to comfortable for my liking. Evans gave him her notes. She must have liked him. Or maybe she was just being helpful. Lily was kind like that. He was good looking I suppose. Seemed smart enough. It was then I decided that he liked Evans. The way he smiled at her. I knew that smile. The fact that he subtly made another way to see her again. I do that. The oh so slight brush of the arm as he walked out. 

"Well who's up for dinner?" asked Sirius
