Hey guys, it's Ibuki-Akabane! As you may or may not know, I've been on this really long hiatus, and it's been two months since I've updated Masked Renegade. To be perfectly honest, it felt way longer than just two months-- more like eternity.
This has been due to my extreme lack of motivation for this book, as well as Elsword becoming distracting, and just homework to deal with in real life.
After much debate with myself regarding this matter, I have decided to discontinue this series.
A two-month writer's block for this isn't helping very much, and ideas have sprouted for other possible fanfictions, too. In a nutshell, Masked Renegade has been at the very bottom of my train of thought, unfortunately.
Also, I truly believe that this book in particular isn't as great and captivating in comparison to my previous works. I apologize, and I'll promise to do better in my next works.
At the same time, I feel that it would be an utter waste to simply discard and unpublish this after its long journey to the 23rd chapter. Therefore, I'll be leaving it here, with the 'completed' book status, when really, it's just discontinued.
However, I had an ending in mind, and so, if you're still curious about how this book would end, read below. It's a small bit of text, and probably not as fulfilling as you'd think it'd be. Warning: Immense amounts of troll ahead. <3
Thanks for reading, and supporting me throughout the creation of Masked Renegade. I'm terribly sorry for letting it end this way, but it happens. Love you all~
TLDR; tfw Masked Renegade is ded. :^(

She held him. Embraced him as tight as her fragile arms could take, because she knew that the moment wouldn't last forever. After all that had happened, everything still felt like a hazy mess. Everything still felt like a blur, but there was nothing that could've been done.
Ara whispered her message as soft as could be. She wanted to express her thankfulness as Add's execution was avoided. The Document of Sin was voided-- just like Aisha, falling into the pits of despair, alone. May she have rest in peace.
"I love you."
Though, to say the least, the duo had no idea regarding the whereabouts of the rest of the Search Party Officers of Justice. Lu and Ciel were never to be seen again. Rena and Raven hadn't met their happy fairytale ending either, and Eve was in a coma-like state; temporarily shut down.
So, what exactly gave them the right to enjoy an ending like this-- when it was barely satisfactory for everyone else? What gave them the opportunity to rest assured, when peace was restored? Absolutely nothing. But, despite these reciprocated feelings, there was nothing that could've been done, when the entire renegade still seemed masked, and when nothing could've been solved. That was the conclusion that the pair of lovers had reached. Blank and empty. Their feelings for each other were the exact opposite, though.
"Yeah, I love you too, Ara. But..." Add chomped down on his words, not wanting to reveal his new realization. He didn't want to hurt her; he didn't want to mess up and ruin everything.
But he just had to, as it seemed like the right thing to do.
"I can't completely return these emotions to you. Because, in the end... the one who I really adore is Ava. Despite being her reincarnated form, this just doesn't feel right-- it doesn't feel the same. So, I apologize." he responded, attempting to keep his voice as soft and gentle as possible. It was difficult, when he was usually an aggressive individual, however, he kept the seemingly endless embrace.
"Ah... is that so?" Ara smiled, he could tell that she was a bit sad from the look in her eyes.
He lightly nodded, there was nothing else that he could do. Nothing else he could say, because there were no other words able to escape from his mouth.
She shed a tear, lightly trickling down her delicate cheek, as it splattered onto the floor, only to dissipate.
"You know... you could've said so sooner." Ara closed her eyes, maintaining her forced smile.
Idiot.
