As Miranda organized her textbooks, Ms. Sun was taking attendance.
"Mercury?"
"Here."
"Venus?"
"Here." stated Venus clearly daydreaming. Just as Ms. Sun was going to call Earth's name, who was not in the room, especially not in his desk, the boy slammed the oak door open, rattling it's small windows, as he straightened his lopsided glasses and shot to his seat. Ms. Sun raised her eyebrows. Her forehead vein began to pulse. She finally cooled down and continued with the attendance.
As Miranda placed her turquoise colored Stats textbook on top, she thought about what Callisto had told her last night. Neptune liked her back! As she looked over at him, he at her. The worst part was, she sat right next to him.
"She called your name." Neptune said. She realized that he was staring at her because she didn't regard Ms. Sun.
"Here." Miranda said, bleakly.
Eris had such a great view of Pan from her hiding place under the shelf. He had such cute ears! She was so glad that he had asked her to prom, she was nervous about what she would wear. She had a cute, royal blue dress she was thinking of wearing she'd ask Pan later.
After attendance was done, Pluto thrust open her Chemistry notebook. How many protons did Potassium have again? She sighed as she thought of the upcoming prom. Eris, her sister, had told her that Pan was going to prom with her. She was happy for her, but wished she could find someone, or rather, someone would ask her. The problem is, she didn't know if anyone liked her.
"Hey, can I borrow your eraser? Orcus chewed up mine." whispered Uranus. Orcus was Uranus's white rat. She handed it to him. "Thanks." he whispered back. He set it back next to her freshly sharpened pencil. Her thoughts began to drift back to prom. If someone asked her, who would it be?
Ugh, would the day move any slower? Mercury, as always, finished his work fast. He was already done with his studying, and it wasn't even lunch yet. He pulled a energy bar out of his pocket. It was his favorite kind; pomegranate and chia seed. As he bit down on the semi-hard chunk of goodness, he thought about his upcoming football practice. The season had started last night. He was excited for practice on Wednesday, when they actually started playing. First practices never had content.
Their summer varsity team was finally going to compete in the Cosmos Travel Championship, if they were successful. He hoped they would make it. With summer starting, track season would come to a close as cross country started. He always felt like he had caffeine when his sports overlapped. It seemed to actually give him more energy. Just as Mercury thought the week would be pretty ordinary, he remembered that prom was on Friday night. He never really considered asking anyone, he thought he was just going to stay home. Anyway, he'd have to see.
After Mercury finished his bar, he crinkled the wrapper and thrust it into his gray running vest's breast pocket. The noise gave everyone an excuse to start talking. At that moment, Ms. Sun slowly rose from her desk, staring at the class. They immediately silenced.
She let out a small sound similar to CO2 cartridge releasing its pressure. Then she sat down again. She flipped open her Hubble computer and began to viciously type away. Maybe she was sending an email? Mercury had no idea.
Mercury glanced back at the rest of the class. Jupiter, was trying to get Venus's attention, who was sitting in front of Earth and Luna. Jupiter threw a paper airplane in the attempt to hit Venus, which hit Luna in the back of the head. She whirled around; Earth glared at Jupiter. That was new. Callisto smacked Jupiter. It was loud. Ms. Sun must have just ignored it, but when Jupiter emitted a grunt, Ms. Sun yelled, " Be quiet Jupiter. Don't make me say it one more time." Jupiter held up his hands in protest, but remained silent.
Mars and Phobos sat next to each other. Mars was reading a book on Darwinism, and Phobos was doodling. As she pushed back a strand of light brown hair, she glanced up at the clock above Ms. Sun's desk. She took a small glance at Mercury, and realized he was looking at her. Her drawings suddenly became very interesting and required further inspection. A light pink appeared on her cheeks.
Saturn was folding pages from an old atlas into origami. She had cranes, frogs, and cat claws around her. Somedays, Saturn would casually hang some cranes from the ceiling. Ms. Sun must have found it pleasing, because she didn't take them down. Although, she didn't even acknowledge them, either.
Titan was furiously taking last minute notes. Titan wasn't a good reader, and Pan always flipping his page when he wasnt looking didn't help either. Miranda sat at a table behind them, and had picked up a book next to her on the shelf about butterfly raising.
In the next row over, Neptune and Pluto sat with their noses buried in their textbooks. Usually, Uranus would have been joining in with them, but he was delicately writing something. As always, Eris was sprawled in the bottom bookshelf next to their table.
As Mercury slowly turned back around, he caught Phobos staring at him again. Why did she keep on doing that? Did he have crumbs on his face? Had he suddenly developed visible facial hair? Mercury had always been a baby face. In fact, he had never had to shave once. Once more, she returned to drawing quickly, and her ears and face reddened. What was her problem?
Okay guys. I'm not sure if you like or nah, so for a new chapter, I'm gonna need four comments and six likes. I'm sorry, I just really can't tell if my few fans don't like my story anymore, or what's up. Once again, sorry, but I really lack motivation when I don't have people enjoying my story. Just remember, to all you fans, I love you guys. You make this story orbit. :)
