Carolyn was the first to break the silence, "like, another family member?" Her voice was quiet, and Angelo nodded.
Pandemonium ensued.
Angelo let them cheer for a minute, then raised his hand to silence them, "just remember, he can leave at any time." Carolyn bounced up to Angelo,
"A boy? Is he cute?" She asked, and Angelo shrugged,
"Depends on your tastes." He smiled, "Naomi, you'll be in charge of making sure he fits in, is that ok?" He turned to a shy girl with long black hair and golden eyes, she nodded, not saying anything.
"Good, thank you." He nodded, "I believe that's all the business we needed to attend to." He smiled and took a seat on the deck, opening his book. The rest of the crowd ran back to finish their game of volleyball.
"Hey, John, What do you think he'll be like?" Edmund asked to a boy with blue hair,
"I really couldn't say, but I have a feeling he's gonna wash out." He said, kicking the ball over the net,
"Oi! Illegal move John!" Carolyn called, just managing to hit it back and stop it hitting James,
"Yeah? And what're you going to do about it?" A thin blonde girl asked, head butting it back,
"No one asked you Sasha!" Another boy, this one with a black undercut, yelled, catching the ball and throwing it directly at John, who caught it and threw it at James.
"Oh, we're playing it like this now?!" James asked, "Dodgeball it is then!" After a couple moments they had taken down the net and had found a few more balls. The game of dodgeball began.
"What's going on?" An athletic boy with short blonde hair asked Angelo.
"Ah, that was quick, and not much, the children are playing dodgeball." Angelo replied, glancing up at the boy, "so Ryan, ready to meet your new family?"
He looked at Angelo, "you called them children, I'm pretty sure that most of them are older than you." He mentioned, a trace of bitterness in his voice. Angelo stood up, facing his back to Ryan as he walked towards the mansion. He paused and turned to him,
"I'm aware, but it's my goodwill that lets you stay here, the least you could do is not challenge me." With that, he spun on his heel and marched inside.
