After dinner, Naomi stood in front of Angelo. He was sitting at his desk in the only private room of the house; his study.
"So... Nikki?" He prompted, and she nodded,
"Yes, sorry." She checked a paper, "Nikki arrived shortly after dinner. I've put her to rest in a single dorm in the eastern wing." Angelo sighed,
"Good good. Now, about your earlier comment...?" He left it open
"Think nothing of it." Naomi said quickly. Angelo stood,
"I'm no longer capable of thinking nothing." He growled "now, what did you mean that she deserves to be here more than you?"
"Simply an observation." She held his gaze, "her experience was similar to mine is all." Angelo sat down again, defeated.
"Fine. How did she get here?"
"She walked."
"You know what I mean." Naomi stiffened,
"I found her on my scouting." She admitted. Angelo was silent, not betraying his emotions,
"Lucky find." Was all he said.
It was almost dark before Nikki awoke. She sat up quickly, her shoulder length black hair going everywhere. She was sweating.
"Nightmare?" Angelo asked, causing her to jump.
"Who the hell are you?" She was immediately on the defense.
"I'm Angelo Faulkner, master of Never Fall. I presume you've met Naomi." He gestured to Naomi, who stood silently, studying Nikki.
"Um... yeah... why are you staring at me?" She asked shyly. Naomi shrugged,
"Curious." Naomi didn't look like she was going to explain any further.
"So, Nikki. Do you know where you are?" Angelo broke the silence, stepping toward her.
"Never Fall?"
"Which is?"
"A mansion?" She answered timidly, "where those in need can find peace?" She added. Angelo nodded.
"Never Fall, Locked Open, Standing Tall, For the Broken." He recited, bowing. "As I said, I'm the master here. Now, you must be hungry." Nikki blushed,
"Y-yes sir..." She answered. Angelo laughed,
"Call me Angelo, my ego doesn't need any more boosting." He smiled and walked out, leaving Naomi and Nikki alone for a moment.
"What are you curious about?" She looked up at the mysterious girl, who shrugged.
"I can see myself in you, and you're interesting." She went to a cupboard, "It's not everyday that I meet a girl who almost killed herself in front of me."
