Chapter 13 - A N N A

My eyes twitch and I let out a small sigh. I smile to myself about what happened with Arran. But then I remember what he said.

There's something you should know.

What should I know? Is there another girl? Or am I just being paranoid? He'd tell me if there was something up, right? I trust him to at least do that.

Gradually my eyes open, adjusting to my surroundings and I gasp suddenly as I see that I'm in a dark room, with no lights.

What the hell?!

Panicking, I try to move my arms but they are tied behind my back with sharp plastic ties.
My legs are fastened to the chair that I'm sitting on, as when I try to struggle against them, I only succeed in falling flat on my face.

I groan loudly as I try to flip myself on my side.

That's when I notice I'm not alone. Slumped against the wall I can see the faint outline of someone else in the room with me.

"Hey!" I whisper.

The figure doesn't move.

"Hey!" I try again.

Nothing.

"HEY!" I yell.

The figure jerks awake and I hear them mutter "Not again,"

"Why am I here, and who are you?" I stage whisper.

"Anna? Is that you?" I hear him mumble.

"Arran?" I ask, shocked. "Where the hell are we? Why are you here too?"

His whole body tenses.

"I don't know An," he mumbles.

I struggle against my bonds again, attempting to flip over on my side again.

That's when I hear the small shuffle of shoes outside the door.

A slender figure walks in, tall with a shock of blonde hair.

She grins down at the both of us and drops a small wink at Arran. Again he freezes.

"Well well well, what have we here," She laughs.

She comes up behind me and pulls my chair up, with me in it, and places it on its legs again.

"Who are you?" I demand in my iciest voice.

"That's for me to know, and you to mind out," she whispers. With that, she places a blindfold over my eyes and tightens it quickly.

"Alto!" I hear her call, "Secure the other one."

I hear someone walk into the room and grab Arran.

"What do you want from us?!" I yell.

"All in good time," I hear a guy drawl behind me. "All in good time."

We were led through a myriad of corridors until finally, I felt the cool breeze of the outside world kiss my cheeks.

My blindfold is taken off and my hands are untied.

I quickly look around me and notice that we are standing outside a barn, in the middle of the country.

"How the hell did I get here?!" I yell.

I make my way towards the girl, fists raised, but am quickly intercepted by a pair of strong arms.

"Woah, slow down there chick," The guy drawls.

I stop dead.

"What did you just call me?" I inquire.

His eyes widen as he lets go of my arms.

I stare at him demanding his answer.

He holds up his hands in a sign of defeat.

"An," I hear someone whisper. "It's all right,"

I turn to my left and notice Arran standing there with his arms crossed in front of him.

I rush towards him and hug him tightly.

"What the hell happened?" I ask.

I hear a cough behind us and I break apart from Arran glaring at the two teenagers standing across from us.

The boy, who I'm guessing is American, had dark brown hair and a quick easy smile.

The girl has sharp green eyes and bright blonde hair. She looks at me apologetically and side glances at the boy.

"Well I guess we should introduce ourselves," The guy says. "I'm Alto and this here is Cassandra. We will be your mentors slash team members in the weeks to come. You start your squad training at 9:00 am sharp tomorrow," He grins.

I look between the two of them bewildered. I glance a look at Arran and he looks extremely uncomfortable.

The girl continues "Yes Anthony thank you. You will meet Tom later on," She grimaces "And trust me you don't want to get on the wrong side of that shi-" Alto cuts her off, coughing.

"Cass ," He warns looking sideways at me.

Arran takes the opportunity to speak up.

"And what if we don't want to stay here anymore?" He asks. I catch a tense undercurrent beneath his words, and I wonder if he knows these people.

"You have no choice" The boy smiles.

"There will be no backing out," He looks at me when he says this.

"You have been specially recruited to join the Inner Circle Anna. And we don't take no for an answer."
