Kano shoved a massive clump of spaghetti into his mouth and immediately choked on it. Kido let him splutter and gasp for air for a few moments-as she laughed at him, of course-but then reached over and thumped him hard on the back. When he looked up, she was red in the face from laughing at him so much. He blinked back the tears formed from the lack of air. At least he told himself that.

"I'm r-really sorry," she gulped, as she rocked back and forth in her seat, "b-but you looked s-so funny!"

Marry and Seto were having a picnic in the woods: but that was clearly just code for 'date'. The rest of the -dan took it this way, anyway. Momo was at a concert, and Hibiya had been dragged along by Shintaro to go watch it. Shintaro had been dragged along by Ene. That may not make sense, but she used the power of forceful language... and saying 'boo' earlier that day to make him spill his soda all over his keyboard.

Kido and Kano were eating alone.

"Don't take it personally," she grinned, dabbing at the corners of his mouth with a napkin. He glowed a deep pink, "just haven't had a laugh in a while."

Her violet hood drooped over her dark eyes, and she yanked it off irritably. Her face was thrown into light, her eyes sparkled and her glossy hair shone. Kano blinked in surprise. He didn't know Kido brushed her hair.

  Meanwhile, in the woods...

  "SETO! I'M BEING EATEN ALIVE!"

  "SETO! I'M BEING EATEN ALIVE!"

Seto pulled Marry out of a thick patch of grass, his face unreadable. His mind was fighting a battle between telling her off and comforting her. He chose the latter.

"It's OK! It's just grass!" He soothed, and unconsciously pulled her closer to him. She gulped, still quivering. She had been awoken by yet another nightmare. But this one was different. As the hissing snakes tore at her flesh, a dark figure threw her last visions into shadow. And then it grinned, flashing bright red eyes.

Seto had decided to take her to the forest because he knew how much she liked animals and nature. And he liked bird-watching. And being with Marry. He gave him self a mental slap. He loved her like a brother, nothing more, he insisted. But the way she beamed at him, clutched at his arm. Their brief moments stolen when no one was around - where they could simply smile at each other, sometimes in silence. Sometimes they crept closer to each other, and sat peacefully in each others arms.

Marry smiled shakily, but soon bounded to her feet, sky-blue dress flowing around her, her own happy little self once more. They walked into a clearing, and Marry's eyes lit up. Alive with birds, butterflies and beautiful plants in full bloom. Pink blush crept up her cheeks and lit up her face as she hopefully clutched his sleeve and lead him into the little paradise.

Seto spread out the blanket and they shared sandwiches and cake quietly. He thought about Kido and Kano alone together. That pair was unpredictable, but he secretly hoped that they would get together. One less person to steal his girl.

He shook himself, and tried to watch Marry catching a brilliant sapphire bluebird on the tip of her finger attempting a friendly conversation. 'Sister, nothing more', he growled under his breath, and she gently lifted her hand and let her little friend fly free. He twittered on the high branch of a tree before diving into the dense jungle of trees.

As he watched his little black speck weave through tall oaks, he felt a warmth at his side. Marry, nestling into his shoulder. He smiled at her, and she smiled back. She clambered onto his lap and leaned back against his chest.

Maybe someday, he thought, as he wrapped strong arms around her waist. Someday.
