Marry stared down at her clasped hands

Marry stared down at her clasped hands. Over the years she had begun to realise that she wasn't showing any signs of getting older. She had perhaps grown taller, her hair longer and thicker, but otherwise, she looked just as she did 3 years before. Tears dribbled down her rosy cheeks, spilling onto the sheets.

Seto peeped his head round the door. Unlike her, he showed undeniable signs of approaching manhood. Not that Marry ever would get to manhood... more like womanhood...

ANYWAY

He had light stubble on his chin, his arms were muscular, rippling beneath his green hoodie. His hair was longer and thicker, but he hadn't reached his growth spurt yet. He clapped eyes on Marry, and instantly ran to her side. Marry cries a lot, doesn't she?

ANYWAY

He brushed his fingers lightly across her face, sweeping away tears. She leaned into his chest and sighed. She had been sad about some things over the years, but they seemed puny compared to the thoughts now pounding in her head. For she had realised that she could never be with Seto. Because she was a monster. And monster's dreams don't come true.

Seto ran his fingers through her hair. She breathed him in. Not like Kirby, like she's smelling him.. but not in a weird way... never mind.

"Is everything okay?" he asked quietly. Marry buried her face in his shoulder and held back the tears misting her eyes. How could she tell the person that she cared about most that they couldn't be together anymore? She would have to watch him crumble and eventually die, and she wouldn't be a day over 20. She couldn't deal with that sort of pain. She'd rather go and rot back in her tower. Like her mother had wanted her to.

"You can tell me anything," he murmured in her ear. She just wanted to hold him, she just wanted to stay in his arms forever. She sucked in a deep breath and spoke in a gush of syllables, her words jumping over each other to get out of her mouth.

  "Ican'tbeyourfriendanymorebecauseI'mamonsterandI'lllivelongerthanyouandthatswhyyouhavetogetawayfromme!!!"

Seto cocked his head to one side.

"Now say that again, slowy." he grinned. She sighed.

"I can't be your friend any more. I'm a... a monster," she struggled to say it out loud, "I'm going to live longer than you will. You will end up with a young me forever and you'll be old and you'll die knowing that..." she clamped her mouth shut. She had been thinking a bit too deeply into this... including what would happen if they had children and they were part monster. What if they lived forever like her? Then again, CHILDREN WTH!

Seto laced his fingers through hers. He leaned closer. 'He smells like forest... and birds." Marry thought.

"I will never be happy unless you're by my side until the day I die," he whisper. Then he pressed his lips to hers, and Marry's heart fluttered and her breath was swept away. She wrapped her arms around his neck, and one hand moved to her waist. The only people in the world were each other.
