Marry slammed the door of her bedroom angrily. She flopped on the bed and hummed something that sounded suspicously like Imagination Forest. There was no calming down. She was beyond help.

Ever since the incident where everyone had apparantly died, they'de treated her... differently. She was the reason all this nonsense had happened, the reason that poor boy had been possessed and killed by a snake demon. The reason that Ayano's dad had been destroyed. She assumed that they'd understand that it was hard to cope with this, and would leave it alone. But they instead gave her frosty expressions and turned their backs.

Except for Seto. He'd stayed with her the whole time. No matter what she had done, he knew that she held no fault. It was never her fault for being the snake queen. She'd just wanted to see her friends again. Her mother had been right. She should never have gone outside. She should have kept to her petty fantasies and believed the pale lies. It would have been easier.

She heard a soft knock on the door. Seto was the only one who ever knocked on the door anymore. She mumbled into her duvet and accidentally slobbered all over the bed. He slipped inside the room.

He couldn't apologise. He'd always seemed so caring yet...

The reason she was so upset was because of what had happened only a short while before. They'd been playing charades (because being a magical snake being gets boring after a while) and Kano had just acted out a giraff ("I thought he was acting out an emu!" Kido had protested after they'd given up) Marry had guessed right so she'd stood in front of them all and tried to be an octopus. She wriggled her arms and moved around dramatically.

  "Seaweed?" Momo suggested.

  "A spider!" Said Hibiya.

  "The Snake Queen."

Everyone turned to Seto with a mingled expression of horror and shock. He seemed to realise what he'd just said. They had all tried to be nice to Marry but it was difficult with all that had happened, and Marry had been able to understand that. But Seto? He had been her first friend. He had been the beacon of light in her otherwise bleak world. And now here he was, bringing up the one subject that no one dared to speak of. Marry raced to her room. Seto called out to her desperately but she didn't hear him. She didn't want to.

Now, he sat gingerly on the edge of her bed. She squirmed away from him. He sighed.

  "I'm sorry. I didn't realise..."

Anger boiled inside her. How dare he think everything was okay. The demon in her heart stirred excitedly. Long had he slumbered for a bite of her soul.

She let the rage bring forth the tidal wave of harsh thoughts that had trickled on the edges of her mind for some time. Blood rushed to her cheek and she released her fury on Seto.

Years of hatred and misery tumbled out of her mouth. Seto's expression morphed into that of shock. She threw her thoughts at him, her eyes beginning to flash red. The demon reared it's head, ready to take it's prey. Possess the Snake Queen.

  "Stop."

Marry stared at him. The demon spat impatiently.

"I never knew you felt that way," he said as tears glittered in the corners of his eyes. Marry gasped as a single drop rolled down his cheek. Before he could say another word she threw herself on top of him and nuzzled into his shoulder. They held eachother as Marry whispered her apology over and over again. She looked into Seto's eyes. His hand was tangled in her hair. She inched closer. Their lips touched. With a scream of rage, the demon in Marry fizzled out and turned to dust. She was free.

(If you didn't understand that, the Snake Demon is the one that possessed Kenjiro and Konoha and he's trying to control Marry and kill everyone but she's really strong and too kind to become evil so the demon waited until she let the EVIL consume her and tried to possess her. Her love for Seto overcame the darkness and the demon died. Back to the story!!)

"I love you." Seto murmered in her ear.

"I love you too." She sighed, resting a head on his beating heart.

"Do you want us to shut the door?" Kano poked his head round. The rest of the Mekakushi Dan stood tentativly behind him.

Marry suddenly realised she was lying right on top of Seto. She rolled off with a squeal. Seto laughed.

  "Weirdo, Kano."
