We're running down the dark and dusty hallways, tears streaming down our faces. We get a distance away from Him, the killer, and pry open an old closet door, and a bloody, pale, body fell down at our feet. Courtney let out a tiny yelp, but not loud enough for Him to hear, and find out where we were. We don't want to be found by Him, but being found by just about anyone else would feel amazing right about now. We pushed the body back into the closet with our feet, and walk cautiously into the tight space, making sure there was nothing else in there.
The space was filled with silence, for what felt like hours, but I'm sure it was just a few minutes. The only sound that was able to be the slightest bit heard was Courtney wiping her cheeks once and a while. I extend my arm, grabbing her hand. We interlock fingers, and Courtney tightens her grip gradually, every once and a while. Then, there was the sound. The sound of foot steps. Heel, toe. Heel, toe. Heel, toe. They got gradually louder, and then they stopped. Then started again, gradually getting softer. Heel, toe. Heel, toe. Heel, toe. His foot steps were no longer audible, which convinced us that He was gone. He was gone, but it's not like he'd just disappeared, he was clearly still somewhere in here.
The only thought on Courtney and my minds were that we have to get out of here, on our own, alive. We peered our heads around the corner; the coast was clear. There is no way I'm letting someone tell me what to do again. This never would've happened if I accepted that dare I was given. They wanted me to come in this abandoned house, and get something from inside. I did it, because I'm not a chicken. I would never live through it if I, Jade Zeng, was labeled in people's minds as a chicken. So, I stood from the ground we were sitting on, walked normally towards the house and pushed the dark cherry wood door open. I walked inside. Nothing was wrong.
Okay, back to real time. We peered around the corner; no sign of Him. We slowly walked towards the front door, and as we walked out of the seldom used house, the 2 AM breeze hit me as hard as a rock. We ran as fast as we could, freezing half to death, trying to catch our breath up with our selves. When we reach 7 blocks away, it's now 3 AM, and we were exhausted. I had fell to the grass in a random yard, and tucked my knees to my chest. Courtney had been laying down on the sidewalk on her back, gasping for air.
"Are you okay?" I ask her.
"Yeah, yeah i'm fine. I just...-" she cut off, and pulled her inhaler out of her robe pocket. She puffed it into her mouth. "I'm okay."
A black, shadow figure appeared in the morning mist, and was walking slowly towards us, but unfortunately, we didn't notice that. It was Him. I'm guessing he followed us both home, because everything started after that night. We only went in to get my phone that I had left on the counter. We didn't mean any harm to anything. Why did He want to kill us? Why does He want to ruin our lives? I don't get it. We hadn't done anything to Him. Is He crazy? Or is He just..I don't know. But there's obviously something wrong with him. He wants us dead. I don't know if that's just me, but I think that's gonna be a problem.
