*COURTNEY'S POV*

Today at school was hard for me. Really hard. Like, rock solid. Wait, that doesn't make sense. Oh well. Anyways, it was hard, mostly because for the first half of the day, every time I had to go to my locker, or even just pass it, I started crying. Guess who's soon to be empty locker stood idle next to mine? Yeah, that's right. Jailene's. It got so bad,  that after lunch, I tried carrying all of my stuff for the fest of my classes, so I wouldn't have to pass her locker for the rest of the day. Free period, oh, my, god. I could pass my eyes as a water park; I'd bet. I went through a makeup clearing and at least 1 full box of tissues.

*FLASHBACK- FREE PERIOD*

There it is. Wow. It feels like trains are just running over my body like tracks; crushing me. They were leaving me just enough room to breathe, but still left me gasping for air. I don't know how that works, but oh well. That's how I felt. I walked up to our doubling lockers, side by side. I always thought we'd e side by side. I guess I was wrong. We didn't get in a fight, she didn't talk behind my back, and she didn't betray or back stab me. She was dead. And if she wasn't dead, she was missing, soon to die, anyways.

I took one single step, peering a it closer to the scratched up, baby blue locker, covered in chipped paint and faded sharpie messages. She had told me her combination, and I had given her mine. We had never really been in each other's lockers, except for to grab left behind books, or borrowed bubble gum lip gloss that was never returned. Thanks. I was kind of curious as to what was in there besides books. Like secrets. We were best friends and all, but the girls in this town talk. They lie. They back stab. Trust me, I could go on for a while. Long story short, none of us are really that trustworthy. Friends or enemies, they'll lie. I lie. A lot. I lie to keep people safe. To make them believe things that aren't true. If I've ever lied to hurt someone, I either didn't mean to hurt them, or it was someone I didn't like. I do that all the time.

I took another step closer to the locker, placing my hand on the lock. It felt weird, just grasping it like that, out of impulse. I put her combination in, and before I knew it, the door was open. Before me stood a very neat locker, filled with pink covered textbooks, posters of Austin Mahone and Ryan Beatty, and my bubble gum lip gloss. Thanks. I quickly pocketed my lip gloss and continued my search. Everything was untouched. It looked the exact same way it did yesterday after noon; exactly how I expected it. No backpack or cell phone, just finished homework. She had always been a pretty good and well organized student.

Something caught my eye. It was a folded up piece of her stationary, folded up on the top shelf of her locker. I thought it might be interesting, but nothing she would mind me reading. It was between her, and our next door neighbor, Cory. He was amazing. I really liked him. He was funny, nice, and he likes me! In a week is our 1 month anniversary. I'm ecstatic.

*THE NOTE READS*

J: Hey, Cory! (:

C: Hey. (:

J: Okay, so I have a question.

C: Yes? Haha.

J: Do you still like Courtney..?

C: I kind of have to, she's my girlfriend. Remember?

J: Oh, well I was just wondering. I guess. But do you like anyone else..?

C: I don't know. Well, I think I kind of like you. (:

J: Really? (:

C: Yeah (:

Okay, so there was more to the note, but at this point, I was furious. I told you they lie. They all do. She had told me that he liked me. Even if that bitch was alive, I don't know how long it would take me to forgive her. Really? Who does that? She's dead meat. Literally.

I slammed the locker door and stormed off to find Jade. It's the end of the day, and I don't wanna hang around this place. I walked as fast as I could in my small heels. I'm sure I looked really really stupid.

Ow. Who just ran into me?

Oh. Of course. It had to be Cory. Why Cory, and not his way cuter friend who was clearly checking me out?

"Oh, sorry babe," he said, leaning in for a hug. He knew that something was wrong when I kept walking. He chased after me, and tried grasping my bare, skinny arms, that were moving quickly out of his reach.

"Get lost, Parker," I said, angrily, still walking.

"C'mon! What's up?"

"Nothing."

"How about we go somewhere?"

"Ew, didn't I tell you to get lost?"

"Fine. By the way, what's up with Jailene? I think she's been freezing me out lately."

"Shouldn't you know?"

"What's that supposed to mean..?

I simply shrugged my shoulders and kept walking.

"Tell me, what's the matter?!" he said, frustrated this time. He grabbed at my shoulder until he got it, turning me around. My face was irritated, but in my eyes, the anger had turned into tears. (A/N: I hate it when that happens, don't you?) I pulled the note I had found in Jailene's locker out of my purse. I held it next to my face. He burrowed his eyebrows, as if saying, -what the hell does that mean to me?-. I handed him the note, and he slowly unfolded it while still looking at me. He looked down at the note, then back up at me with huge eyes.

"Tell me where you found this."

I stood there, silently. He grabbed my arm and pulled me, and all I could think was, where is he taking me?
