It’s very strange how our lives can be forever affected by just a few choices we make when we’re young. Maybe your best friend had to get off work later than expected, so you decided that you should change movie times from the 8:55 showing you had planned to the 9:30 showing. Maybe you just decided you’d rather have Burger King cuz you’ve had McDonalds practically every other day this week. The funny thing is, these are all small decisions that usually have nothing to do with the grand scheme of our lives, but from time to time, we make one small decision without the intention of anything happening, yet fate has other plans. Maybe you’ll walk into that movie theatre and come face to face with the love of your life. Or maybe, there was a robbery at the McDonalds that you luckily didn’t have to go through cuz you’d rather have a Whopper Jr. (That hamburglar, always up to no good). My point is, fate has a weird way of working. And I can promise you this: When I was 19, I never would have imagined my life would become the way it was just by a few small decisions I made when I was young.

Back to the present for a minute. Why am I here telling you my story? WELL. Recently, I’ve made yet another decision, this one being one of the biggest decisions of my life. If you guessed that decision to be saying yes to my wonderful fiancé, you are correct. In 2 days, I’ll be walking down the aisle to marry the love of my life. In no way do I regret that decision, heck no. I’m not having second thoughts, I’m not… backing out or getting cold feet or anything. I just want everyone to know the truth, not that it’s a secret. But the past 4 years of my life have been shaped by one giant, chaotic love… triangle. No. This was more than a love triangle. This was a love square. A crazy, emotional roller coaster of a love square. And I want everyone to know exactly how it happened, so maybe you can understand at least a little bit of what’s goin on in my brain right now.

The princess doesn’t just grow up peacefully, meet the prince, and then immediately live happily ever after, no.  In order to get to that happily ever after, we have to encounter quite a few twists and turns along the way. So if you’re expecting this story to be all happy and cheesy and beautiful, maybe this isn’t the story for you. But this IS a story with a happy ending, at least for some of us…. So, before I begin my story, let me just remind you of something. Every beginning comes from some other beginnings end. Remember that throughout this story, and maybe even throughout your daily life.

Alright, I think I’ve said enough. Time to get to the main attraction. The story. Where to start… Where to start…

Let’s go back to a sort of irrelevant year, so I thought at the time.

Seventeen.
