Liz and I got out of the car, along with Ty. Across the street was almost the biggest party I’ve ever seen in my life. Various cups lay on the grass that wasn’t as perfectly cut as I thought it would be. Teens made out on the porch, which was disgusting but what can they do; their drunk. I followed Ty and Liz when they started walking towards Jason’s house. As I got closer to the porch the terrible stench of liquor hit me like a basketball to the face. I crinkled my nose at the smell.
“You’ll get use to it.” Liz says making it sound really easy. The smell was so toxic to my nose that I didn’t think I could take it anymore.
“Right.” I responded.
Almost instantly when we entered the house, Whitney popped up. Showing her hoeness with what she was wearing. A tight blouse covered by a tiny jacket, a really short skirt and heels that looked like needles. How could she wear something like that? Well I guess its hoe code.
“Ty! Hey baby, wanna dance?” Whitney locks onto Ty’s arm like a leech and yanks him to the area where all of the drunken hobo’s were dancing.
“Wait—Whoa!” Ty exclaims, unfortunately he wasn’t able to escape the persistence of the skank. When I think about it, I’m sort of jealous. I don’t think anyone who is human could have denied this feeling I was having.
“C’mon big boy! Time to dance!” Just like that Ty was gone, absorbed into the crowd of drunken hillbilly people.
I sighed, turned around and didn’t see Liz anywhere. I turned my head back around and there she was. Liz was dancing with some muscle guy. He was grinding on her and she was grinding on him. It was funny because she was drinking while dancing. It sounds impossible but obviously Liz was an expert at it.
Once again, I sighed. Now I’m alone in a house with random people, I thought. I saw a little mini bar out of the corner of my eye and made my way to it. Not knowing where else to sit, I just sat anywhere.
“What will ya’ have to drink?” I man behind the mini bar—wearing a tiny jacket that looked like it wouldn’t even fit a teddy bear—asked me. I didn’t know what to say because I’ve never drank alcohol before.
“um…”
“He’ll have a Sloe Gin.” I turned my head to the voice that answered for me. It was Jason Macleod.
“Sure.” The man behind the mini bar started pouring the drink inside a cup. He handed it to me and smiled. I smiled back, but it wasn’t real.
“Thanks?” I said to Jason.
He smiled and it was like lightning struck me. I became nervous and couldn’t speak. I guess it’s just that thing someone gets when the most “popular” guy in the school talks to someone.
“You’re welcome,” He took a seat next to me and told the bar guy that he wanted a sloe gin too. “So how’s the party? Havin’ fun?” He said with smile.
“Uh… Yeah I guess.” I played with the liquid inside my cup. I didn’t want to drink it because I was scared my mom would find out. She is kind of crazy.
Jason chuckled, “First party huh?” I felt embarrassed; so I put my head down. Mistakenly taking a sip of the drink I had in my hand.
I shook my head at the taste of it. It was really bitter but the aftertaste was really sweet. “Ech! What is this?”
“Sorry. I thought you would like it. It is kinda like you.” He took a chug of his drink. “I like it.” He showed a tiny smile.
The drink is like me? I started to stare at the drink. Bitter at first, then becomes really sweet…? Nah it’s nothing like me.
“So how’s the party going for you?” I mustard up the courage to actually talk and it even surprised me. I thought I would be nervous. I thought I actually was nervous but now it’s gone.
He sighed and took a sip of his drink, “I don’t really do parties. Basically my step-brother made me do this, but I'm actually having fun.” He shrugged, “it’s surprising.” He started laughing. I couldn’t do anything but smile and I questioned his reasoning. I mean—He’s the most popular guy in school and he doesn’t even party? That sounds weird.
“Jason! Come dance with me!” I looked behind me and saw who was calling him. It was Liz! That crazy girl. Like he was under a spell he got up, sent me a smile and went to dance with Liz.
I sighed, alone again, I thought. I put the drink down but gave it a last look. Sloe Gin huh? I asked myself, maybe it is like me. I got up and walked towards the front door. This isn’t a place for me. I thought I could try and have fun for once but I’m not comfortable here.
I turned around to look for Liz—to tell her I was leaving—but I didn’t see her anywhere. It was a bad idea to walk while looking behind me because I bumped right into someone.
“I’m so sorry, I wasn’t paying attention—" I looked up to say sorry but now I’m sorry for myself. The person standing in front of me right now answered my nightmares, made my heart want to stop beating at the sight of him.
“Ginn?” Nate. It was him, I couldn’t believe it. My eyes bulged out and my legs began to shake like a rattle.
“N—Nate?”
