Now in SciFi, sometimes book covers don't quite capture the excitement or interesting stuff that is inside the book. This is purely because if you did capture all the crazy things that happen in your book, the cover would be insanely busy and difficult to look at.
So here's a tip from me: SIMPLE ALWAYS WINS.
Do something simple, make it intriguing but simplicity will always work with SciFi covers because it acts as a contrast with the possibly very busy interior of the book.
