Brooklynn's POV:
I took a walk down by the harbor to avoid a lecture from Aunt Justine about being late. The air was humid and my hair was stuck to the back of my neck. The sun was setting off in the distance and a storm was moving in. The weather is crazy here in Savannah, so it doesn't surprise me at all. The farther I walked, the worse the weather was getting. Suddenly there was a downpour. I was about 25 minutes away from home and it was pouring rain, I was freezing, and not to mention it was lightning. Not a good combo. I just started walking home... What else am I supposed to do? The ocean was choppy with waves and the birds took cover under the docks. They're pretty smart I guess.
As I was staring out to sea, I heard a faint voice. "Brooklynn, isn't it?" Yelled a boy about my age from a rusty orange pickup truck. "Yeah, who are you?" I called back shoving my wet hair out of my face. "I'm Liam. I work for your Aunt Justine. If she sees you out here in this weather she will flip! Come on, I'll give you a ride." He called. I hesitated before I walked towards the truck. "Hop in" He said nonchalantly. I hopped into the car and shut the door behind me. "Here take this." He said handing me a towel. "Thanks." I said with a smile. "Yeah, no problem." He said with out even looking my way. His voice is warm and strong. He has one of those deep southern accents. His face is chiseled with dark features. His biceps look great in his tight grey t shirt which is also soaking wet. We road in silence, but I didn't mind.
"So, you're Ms. Justine's niece?" He asked not taking his eyes off the road. "Yeah, that'd be me. The one and only." I said pointing at myself awkwardly and wishing he'd make some eye contact. That's when I got it, a quick little smirk. Almost a smile... Not quite, but almost. "Well, aren't you just lucky rich girl." He said smirking again. Rich girl? Yeah, that just ruined it. "Rich girl?" I asked as we pulled up to the town house. He just looked at me and laughed. He hopped out of the truck and opened my car door. "After you ma'am." He said with another smirk. "My pleasure" I said with a smart elic tone and I sashayed right into the house.
I don't know how you feel about first impressions, but so far my impression of Liam, is that he is the epitome of douche bag.
Liam's POV:
She strutted into the house without one thank you. But I didn't mind. I followed closely behind. Anything to be close to her. No... I didn't just think that. I cannot get feelings for this snobby, city, rich girl. She probably wouldn't even give me the time of day. That's because I'm the good, funny, sweet guy who always gets walked all over. I follow Brooklynn into the house to see Ms. Justine frantically pacing the floor. "BROOKLYNN! I WAS WORRIED SICK!" She boomed at the top of her lungs. Brooklynn looked as If she was about to cry. You could tell she was searching for words. "I... I um... Eh..." Was all she managed before I cut her off. "I took her to the library. I noticed she liked to read, and she didn't bring any good books with her. I'm sorry Ms. Justine, I should've came to you first ma'am." I blurted out while I twiddled my thumbs. "Is this true Brookie?" Asked Ms. Justine. "Yes, it is." She said nodding to Ms. Justine before looking at me with a confused look on her face. "Well, let's not let it happen again.." She said quickly. "Now, go to your rooms, please. We all have big days ahead of us.
"So...Brookie, huh?" I teased as I walked up the stairs. "Yeah, I'm not very fond of the name. The gave it to me when I was about 3, and it's stuck ever since." She sharply replied. I let out a small laugh. " Well Brooklynn, you could always thank me for saving your butt back there." I said with a smirk. Anything I can do to piss miss feminism off. "I didn't ask for help did I? I can take care of myself. I mean, I'm almost 18." she said stomping into her room, which is about 10 doors down from mine. "Sorry I tried to help princess, next time I'll let you melt." I didn't know she was going to be such a brat. Then again, it seems like all the guests Ms.Justine has is always snobby rich folk. But, I can't help but think she isn't really this way... but maybe it's a cover up. Ha! What am I saying. She's terrible! The way she talked to me with absolute hatred. I should've known. People like Brooklynn don't get along with simple working class people like me. They're used to being waited on hand and foot by people like me. I opened the door to my room finding everything the exact way I left it. My twin bed in the far left corner next to the window, my guitar still sitting on the stand and my record player sitting next to my dresser. I flipped on my old television set and surfed through channels until I found the usual late night cartoons.
As I was turning up the volume to drown out the noise of all the other workers in the building I heard a knock at my door, "Hello! Liam! I know you're in there open up!" called Harley from the other side of the door. I jumped up and darted for the door. "It's about time you opened the door. I was starting to get worried!" I let out a small chuckle. "Worried? Why on Earth would you be worried? Nothing happens here." She looked at me and rolled her eyes. "Now you know you're lying through your teeth. EVERTHING happens in the workers quarters." she said strumming my guitar. "Now, I came to you o talk about our next performance, We need to find a song for our opening act." Now she was up flipping and prowling through my collection of records. Before I could get a word out she cut me off, "Oh I've got it! Love is strange by Mickey and Sylvia. Why didn't I think of it?" she scremed jumping up and down. "Ms.Justine will love it. She's always comlaining about how we need to look more intimate on stage. This will be perfect." I smiled. "Whatever you say Harley. So, I hear that you've been hooking up with Diesel. Is that true?" she quickly looked away. I could tell she didn't want anyone to know. "It was only afew times, it won't happen again." I shook my head "Yeah, I hope not. You know what happened last time. You can't trust him Harley! You know he;s been with almost every worker here! I wish you'd just stay away." She started for the door "Don't worry Liam. He really cares about me. I know it. I'm a big girl, I can take care of myself, I'll be fine. Goodnight sport." and she shut the door and sashayed out. She'll never learn. Harley will never learn.
