Chapter Two - Isolation

When we got Palau Dad got us a car and picked up a set of keys for a small house on the most deserted part of the island. "Why are we here?" I complained again.

Mum sat me down on the couch and said; "Your father and I know Jeremy's family. We used to be close to them and then something very bad happened and we don't talk. We don't get along anymore and I'm afraid that if they find us they may hurt us."

As Mum was saying this Dad walked in, clearly finished with the unpacking of the car. "Why don't you go and unpack your things in your new room?"

"But I like my old room. I don't want to be here. I want to go home." I whine, finally able to privately breakdown. "All I want to do is go home!"

"It's not safe at home anymore." Mum tries to explain, though I know that she is keeping something from me.

"Why? What aren't you telling?" A look passes between my parents as though their trying to work out if they should tell me or not. "Just tell me. I'm older then you think. I can handle what ever it is. Just tell me."

One final look passes between them and they make up their minds. They both sit down on the couch and I follow their lead. "We haven't told you about what we are." Dad started. "We aren't like other people."

"What do you mean?"

"We have different capabilities." Mum continues, aware that Dad is still a little reluctant to let me in on the secret. "We have angel blood mixed into a humans. We are called Protectors. We were placed on Earth to protect those that are innocent from those that are evil."

Even though I was young I still had a very strong sense of the world around me and most of my actions seem like those of someone who is much older. "Yeah. 'Cause we are so special. Maybe you should be in a mental institution."

With that I walked away from parents and went to the beach. No one was around and so I went for a swim. I didn't notice the eyes watching me, though even if I had I wouldn't have thought much about it. All I could think was 'Why would my parents tell me that?' 'Why make up some stupid story about why we left?' The only thing I needed right now was to clear my head before I went back in there. And all I wanted was some friends. Neither was looking to happen.

Practically no editing done here (just a few gramma stuff). I know it's short but I feel like this is more of glimpse at her life and may have a few more short chapters later on. Please keep reading!! E. <3
