I woke up in a dark room with nothing but the walls, floors and ceiling. The room was small enough to only hold two people comfortably. The door was bolted shut from the outside and there was no other way out. I didn’t know what day it was or how long I was unconscious.
The door opened and a girl walked in. “Hello Scarlet. Remember me?” It was Samantha. She was wearing black fighting gear and had weapons strapped to her. “Why don’t we play a little game?” I knew what she meant. This was going to be painful.
“Now sweetie, if you tell me everything you know then you can go back to your family safe and sound, but disobey my orders and I will be forced to use – other methods.” She was playing with a knife the length of my forearm. “So what shall it be?”
“What did you want to know?” Was all I said. I tried to bring up my walls. My mind flipped to Max, the look of longing in his eyes. They were up and the tears fell on my cheek.
“What is your plan Scarlet? How do you plan to destroy us?” She was being forward, taking control of the situation. She happened to glance at me for just a moment but I knew in that moment that she was terrified of me.
Stab. I didn’t answer fast enough. A small throwing knife was in my thigh. I screamed out in pain. “Answer me.”
“I’m not planning anything.”
“Wrong answer.” She twisted the knife in my leg causing me to scream even louder. I needed to keep my walls up. I thought of Max, of the adoration in his eyes when he looked at me. She pulled out the knife allowing me to heal.
“Lets try again. What is your plan?” Her voice was menacing. Again I paused just a little too long. The knife went into my other leg.
“I told you. I’m not planning anything.” A whip to the face told me that she didn’t believe me. Blood was gushing to the floor from both my legs and a cut had formed on my face.
She grabbed a bat that she had placed by the door. “Tell me the truth.” I didn’t respond. The bat came down hard on my arm, breaking it in half.
I was starting to feel faint. Another blow will send me unconscious. She leaned in close to me, eyes level with mine. “Tell me the truth.” She said. Her voice filled with hatred and fear. “TELL ME THE TRUTH!” She yelled.
I didn’t respond, my body being too weak to do so. I felt the bat hit my head and I’m sure it almost broke my neck before I blacked out.

I don’t know how long I was out but this time I woke I was in a different room. I could hear shouts from outside the door.
“How could you let him go?!” Someone was yelling, a woman from the sound of it. “Go find him. If her gets to her parents and tells them what’s going on we’re done for.”
“Of course Samantha. Sorry.” I knew that voice. That was Jeremy. There was a sound of several pairs of feet walking away quickly and I heard the locks on the door open. Samantha walked in, wearing the same weaponry and fighting clothing as last time.
“Good morning sunshine. How are you feeling?” She said in a tone that sent shivers down my spine. I knew what was coming.
“I feel fine.” I had Max in my mind, allowing my walls to stay up easy and stronger than ever. She came close to me, a knife in hand. This was going to be painful. Again.
“Good. Then we can get to business. What did you promise them?” Completely confused by this statement I questioned her.
“Them?” It was all I could muster.
“Your army. You know the one that you have recruited so that you can destroy us all.” She must have noticed the blank look on my face because she then said; “But maybe you’re doing this on your own. Too powerful to need an army.”
Her words gave me a thought. I’m powerful, all I need to do is believe. “Well we’ll see about that.” And with that she stabbed a knife in each ligament, pinning me to the ground. She laughed a sadistic laugh that shook me to my soul and sauntered out of the room, locking the locks loudly enough to ensure that I heard just how trapped I was.
This gave me time to think. I looked around the room. How was I going to get out of this? I noticed that there was no sign of a camera or a window that she could watch me through.
I took a chance on trying to get the knives out. The one she put in my left arm was far enough up the arm to allow me to bend my wrist and pull it out. It was painful but eventually I had all four out. I dragged myself across the floor to the wall by the door and stayed there while my body healed.
I analysed the room, memorised the details. In one corner there seemed to be an indent in the wall suggesting that there may be another room. It was a dirt floor, which meant I could move it.
Using the little energy I had left I made a tunnel underneath the wall. And crawling through I found myself in another room. Someone else had been tortured in here. The bloodstains were fresh.
The locks on the door to the room I had been enclosed in opened. I took one of the knives that I had placed on my belt and flattened myself to the wall near my tunnel. They seemed to be analysing the situation, which meant it wasn’t Samantha.
They began to crawl through my tunnel. Just as he came into sight I lunged. My legs had recovered enough for me to move a little but this was too much. He caught me as I fell to the ground pulling me close to him.
“There you are.” His voice was like silk, his arms strong around my waist. I leaned into him, making sure to use him to stand. “Lets get out of here.” He picked me up knowing I wouldn’t be able to walk and carried me out into the corridor.
“I can walk a little.” I whispered. “Just as long as I can lean on you.” He placed me on my feet, keeping his arm around my waist and staying close by me.
We walked like this through the corridors and out a side door he had found before he came back to get me. From here we went into the forest, walking as fast and as quietly as we could.
