PROLOGUE

She glanced at the waiting car and with a lopsided smile, she approached the driver seat. Sliding in, she reached for the safety belt. As soon as she buckled the seat belt and looked outside, she gasped, frightened after seeing her friend standing with a scowled face.

"Jesus, you gave the fright of my life, Kelly," she breathed out the air she was holding.

"Oh yeah, that's good because I'm trying to knock some sense into that tiny brain of yours," Kelly shouted. 'I mean, what wrong with you. Have you gone crazy?"

"Calm down, Kel," she gestured. "Did u just said 'crazy'....." she proclaimed at Kelly.

"Yes, you're crazy Miss Samantha and racing is insane too," Kelly tried to reason out with her friend. Hoping to talk her out of this race. Knowing the past implication she was worried.

"Okay, about that. I don't want to hear anything Kel, so drop it," Samantha had already made her decision to race today.

"How can I put some sense into you, when you are being so difficult," Kelly said, with disappointment.

"Yeah, try explaining that to Darren," Samantha clarified.

Kelly took a look at Darren and saw no sense talking to him either. She knew that he won't listen to her again. But she tried.

"Okay fine. But this is insane," Kelly still could not believe what these two are up to. She walked away murmuring something about being irresponsible... but Samantha didn't bother listening to it.

Samantha gripped the steering wheels and looked at a distance. She let out another breath and scrunched her eyebrows at the sweltering heat. It was scorching hot.

The suit was making her uncomfortable and the helmet was not doing any good either. She was sweating profusely.

Is it the heat or is it just me? Nervous!! Fear!!

Checking her watch; she still had fifteen minutes, for the race to start.

The technical staff, race officials and the drivers were all in position. Her pillion ride was talking to Darren while she was suffocating inside the car with the racing suit.

Damn it!!

The team was waiting for further instructions from the officials. For the race to start.

"You ready?" Her pillion ride asked, taking the passenger seat, after closing his side of the door.

"As always," Samantha replied promptly.

"Nervous?" He asked.

"Hmmm...," she murmured. May be.

"Scared?" He asked, again when he got a nonchalant answer.

"Will you please stop. I'm just fine". Her patience was wearing off. May be I am scared too.

"Good to know you are just fine." Ian chuckled.

"But you think my driving is crazy?"

"I didn't say that," Ian reasoned out.

"What did you mean then?"

"I meant that, when you will be ripping the tracks, competing for the first position, I should be ready to take the onslaught as your trusted company, right!" Ian said, looking straight into her eyes. He knew she was nervous and scared, even if she doesn't say.

"You always know what to say, isn't it"?" Samantha's nerves were already relaxed and her voice was softened after hearing his encouraging words. He had this effect on her.
