Grief

I called Maz and Emily into the office and the three of us began to cry.

"I cant believe this......we were only laughing and joking a couple of days back......he was so happy"

Emily looked up at me, her face was streaked with tears.

"How was he so happy?"

"I got him a date with Becca from the coffee house and they were really hitting it off"

"You don't think.......she had anything to do with this"

"Don't be silly.......I read the suicide note, he hanged himself"

Maz looked at me rather sternly

"Don't take it out on Emily, she was only asking"

I opened my mouth to say something and then shut it and simply nodded my head..

"Sorry"

We reluctantly pulled apart and then I went and sat behind my desk and asked Maz to stay, Emily went back out to the reception area

"So apart from todays distressing news, is there anything that has happened while I have been away"

"Not much, something did happen but Im not sure its appropriate to discuss what with everything going on"

"Is it good news?"

"Yes it is"

"Then please tell me because Ive had the day from Hell"

"Me and Emily are engaged"

That started the tears again but this time of joy, I was so happy for them and called Emily back into the office, I took a bottle of champagne that I kept in my filing room and with 3 small plastic cups filled them up and handed around with a welcome toast......some good news at last but for how long I wondered?

I left the office shortly afterwards and went across to Grinders, the shutters were down and it looked closed and so I was about to walk back when I saw Leah sitting at a table.

I knocked on the window to arouse her attention and she looked up excitedly when she saw me, next thing I was inside through the side door and we were sat talking about the events of the past few days.

"Leah, its so good to see you"

"Likewise......How have you been?"

"Ive been better"

"Do you want to talk about it"

I didn't really want to talk about any of the things that were happening, all I wanted to do was take her in my arms, hold and kiss her.

"I guess you should be told what has been happening"

She stepped back and for a moment I wondered if she was aware of what I was going to say

"From the beginning?"

"I think so"

I decided that I could miss bits out which were not as relevant but give her a general run down of the problems that were plaguing me, I was loathe to mention that she might be the cause..

"You recall I told you about the headaches I was experiencing?"

"Yes"

"Well that wasn't strictly true, shortly after we made love that first time I began to experience visions....Images if you like of an erotic nature, they involved you at first but then it started to include anyone that I was around"

Her face was impassive and difficult to read so I carried on.

"I went to see my local doctor for advice and was given some pills but they only made things worse and when the visions began to intrude on my personal work area I was beginning to get worried"

"Ive a feeling this is leading somewhere Holly"

"Becca came to see me and made a suggestion on how things could be improved, anyway I blacked out and ended up in the hospital"

"Oh no Holly, are you ok now?"

"For the moment, but I decided to come back to work and then to see you"

"I saw the police cars......whats happened?"

I paused and took a breath

"Are you sure you want to know?"

"Yes....tell me.....this cant be any worse than what you have told me so far"
