Hey everyone! So it turns out the wait was not that long for the next book, so there really wasn't that much suspense! But, I just want to let you know that nothing but the title has changed, the storyline is still exactly where it left off, so if you are a new reader I suggest you go to my profile page and read Becoming a Family (the first book). And Becoming a Family just hit 5,000 reads which is insane! Here's your chapter!!
Thoughts raced through my head at an uncontrolable speed... Why would Percy do this to me? Why? And why wouldn't he tell me, until he had no other choice. It broke my heart, he had lied to me for who knows how long, and had only told me because he had no other choice. Then I was also filled with rage, I was furious. He cheated on me, but what hurt me most of all was the fact that he had lied to me about it and kept it his dirty little secret for so long. I felt a tear leave my eye and fall down my face, but I didn't even care at the moment.
"What?" I whispered, barely able to get the word out.
"I'm so sorry-" he repeated again, but I held up my hand, making him stop.
"When was this?" I asked and then added when he avoided my gaze, "Please be honest with me Percy it's the least you can do."
"2 years ago," he said and sighed, "Before we were engaged, before we had Melody."
"That doesn't make it any different." I said firmly, "you lied to me Percy."
"Would it matter if I told you that we were on one of our 'off' phases?" He asked, with pleading eyes that were full of pain.
"I don't know." I answered truthfully, "I honestly don't know what to do Percy, but I do know one thing." I said and turned to Cailin, "You need to leave. Go, now and if you ever step foot in my house again..."
"You'll do what?" She asked, and when I didn't answer she continued. "Thought so" and then turned towards Percy again, "so are you coming with me or not?"
Percy stood up and walked toward Cailin, as I headed towards Melody, scooping my daughter up in my arms. "You show up at my house after threataning my wife, and think that I would take you back? You must be crazy Cailin and I suggest you leave my house right now before I call the police, you literally have 10 seconds. 10...9..."
"Okay, okay." She said, "Stop counting I get the point, I'm not wanted. But I did get what I wanted, your relationship with Annabeth ruined, have fun trying to fix that. I can't wait to see how it turns out." She stepped out of the door and shut it promptly, as if none of this had ever happened.
I held my breath as Percy walked over to me and smiled, but I could tell that it was forced. "Well that was weird." He said, "Annabeth I'm so sorry I would never do anything to hurt you. We had just been in a big fight, I was young stupid, it was one time. I kissed Cailin, nothing more."
"She made it sound like you--" I said not even wanting to finish the sentence.
"I know, that's what she wanted you to think. She wanted to tear us apart, but she can't we're one." He paused and when I just continued to look down at Melody, not even glancing at him he picked up his speech again, his tone sounding worried, "We are Annabeth, right?"
"I don't know Percy..." I answered honestly, as his face dropped. "You lied to me, for all I know you could have kissed dozens of girls."
"I didn't." He said firmly, and I wished I could believe what he said.
"I just need some time Percy," I said, "Why don't you go visit Jason and I can invite Piper over, Please Percy."
"Okay." He said, "How long do you want me to leave."
