I haven't able to internalize the news just yet because I am really hungry. Why? Because I did not eat nor drink anything few hours before the screening started. I don't have a flat tummy and so I tried to have one. I walked towards Bless, my bestfriend, to ask for food when Ramona, the JPIA's official make up artist, approached me.

"Hi nak, I'm Ramona. I will be your make up artist and at the same time, your mentor", he says. He's gay so let me rephrase that. She says.
"Oh! Hi ma'am Ramona", I replied.
"Call me 'Mamang", she examined my face. "When did you last had your period nak?", she asked.
"Last month", I answered.
"Okay! We have to make sure you're not going to be bloody on the pageant night. Pimples usually comes out when you're on your period and I hate seeing one resting on your face. Is that clear?"
"Crystal!" I said. She left me afterwards.

I lie on my bed. Internalizing things. After a few minutes, "Whoooooooooooooooo!" I exclaimed. I understood that I won but being chosen to compete with other schools? Hmm hmm *shakes head*
My goodness, I need to prepare. Diet. I don't know what it looks like on the actual event. The Accountancy program is expecting high from me. I only have few days to prepare. I looked at the IRR Guidelines of the pageant. It is almost the same as a normal pageant search. It has a talent portion. Nah! I'm a dancer. It's just chicken!

A few days passed, I was contacted by the Jpia officers. And today, we had a photoshoot. (My poster is above 👆🏻) We had small talks and some mentoring when I realized I only have very little time to prepare. I forgot about the talent. I could dance but I don't know what to dance. I don't choreograph. The team helped me with suggestions until we came up to a lyrical duo. I know exactly what to do.

By the time I arrived home, I immediately dialed his number. He answered, "Hello?"
"Hey! It's me, Chel. Uhm, I just want to ask you a favor."
"Yes. What is it?"
"I need you."
"Me?"
"To dance. With me. Talent. Uhm please?"
"Woah. Yeah sure! Is this for the pageant?" he asked.
"Yes. We'll see each other tomorrow then,"
"Yeah sure. 3pm?"
"Yes! Pe hall. Thank you so much Chris! You're a great help."

And so it's settled then. I just have to practice tomorrow and viola! I'm all set. Christo Rey is a hiphop dancer. We were under the same group during high school and I am 100% sure that he is the best option. I'm so excited.

February 7, It was saturday. I sit inside the pe hall, the place where you can see all the dancers. But right now, I'm the only person inside. It has a huge mirror sticking flat on the walls. It was still 2:30 PM when I arrived and a few minutes later, Christo's finally here.
"Hey!" he approached me.
"Hi chris! Let's start?" The music is Nobody's Perfect by Jessie J. I thought it will be easy but damn I'm starting to feel hopeless. He's a good dancer and he's also a choreographer but it's either his moves won't sink in or my body won't cooperate. I don't know why. I always loved seeing him dance but late that I realized his choreography is pretty hard. The practice has ended. I went home encouraging myself that I could this. I'm going to see him tomorrow again for the next practice.
***********

I woke up the next day and my body does not feel good. I'm bleeding, down there. I feel relieved because it will only mean that I will be pimple-free on the big night. However, I can't go on a practice with Chris cause my abdomen hurts. I texted Chris and he said okay. I went to church and then stayed home all day.

February 9, Monday 6PM
I'm at the Pehall and this time, I'm not alone. All of the performers for the upcoming Pasundayag, a school event/Variety Show, are here waiting for the practice to start. I saw Jay-r. As a friend, I said hi. We had a small talk when a light bulb suddenly appears on my head. What if I will ask Jay-r to back me up? The dance company has this jazz group routine 'Scared of Me', choreographed by Gerard, and we could totally dance it, even if it's just the two of us. And so without any second thoughts, I asked him. With an excited expression, he said yes.

No one ever suspected, not even me or him, that this yes he just uttered could be a start of something new and powerful. No one knew where it would take the both of us. The partnership has just begun.
