Silence

It started with Silence. The wind rustled her hair, but the observer did not flinch. It was her job to never flinch. To take notice of everything around her. To protect him. She didn't even dare think his name in this moment. She was focused. Those damn silent house alarms had made his job that much more dangerous, and it was her job to make sure he didn't get caught.
The sound of police sirens filled the streets, and immediately Minha's hand flew to her ear and she began to speak softly.
"You've got about 30 seconds before they get here." No response. She didn't need one. He always heard her, and he always made it out in time. In about 10 seconds the sirens would whip past her and by that time he would be long gone.
Putting her hands in her pockets, she sighed as she continued walking. No one would suspect her, they had just sped past her so there was no possibility she could have been in the house. Indeed she had never stepped foot in the house, but it still made her slightly nervous to walk past officers with confused expression on her face. She didn't bother to ask them what was wrong, it was better that she didn't, so they wouldn't have an excuse to know her face. Neither of the police officers stop to give her a second thought. She was beautiful and clearly wealthy; that type of person could never commit a crime, right? She smiled before continuing on her walk to catch a cab farther down the street.

Before she could even put the key into the hole, the door to her apartment opened, much to Minha's surprise. This was different. They usually met the next day to divvy up profits and discuss their next target. Looking up into the eyes of her boyfriend, Minha felt a slight tinge of fear. He was clearly upset about something. He grabbed her by her arm and pulled her into the apartment and she barely had a chance to gather herself before she felt a sharp pain where his hand connected with her cheek.
"Do you know why I am upset?" His voice was unnervingly calm, and this made Minha even more afraid. Still she could not think of anything.
"No." Her voice was steady despite her growing fear.
Another slap. This time she reached up to touch her cheek, but his hand grabbed her chin first and made her face him.
"I'll ask again. Do. You. Know. Why. I. Am. Mad?" Again his voice was calm, and this time Minha snapped.
"If I fucking knew don't you think I would have answered you the first time? Why don't you save us some time and tell me huh?" She braced for another hit, but none came. Uh-oh. She knew what that meant.
"What did I tell you about letting officers see your face?" Dropping his hand, he spat the words at her, this time his anger clearly showing.
It took a second before Minha remembered what happened. She walked past the officers and accidentally made eye contact with one of the officers. She didn't think anything of it and wasn't even sure how he knew about it.
"I'm sorry, Yoorngi. It won't happen again."
"You're damn right it won't!" He grabbed her arm again and this time brought her to the bedroom. She sighed and started taking off her clothes. Every time he was pissed, Yoongi's way of dealing with his anger, was through rough sex. She had to admit, she kind of liked it. He like to tease and torture her, and in her own sick twisted way, she enjoyed it. She loved him and if offering her body was a way to keep him around, then she was willing to do that. She knew he didn't like her the way she loved him, but it didn't matter as long as she was by his side. Bonnie and Clyde, she thought.
Eventually, Yoongi left, and Minha was left to deal with the aftermath of his work. Her body ached and as she took a shower, she assessed the damage. Looking down at her naked body, she felt a sense of pride knowing that she was the one he was screwing. She never had to worry about him cheating, because he didn't trust anyone but her, and it was that trust that made her love him even more. To think that she was the only one who could enjoy him. All of him was hers, and because of that she was content with everything, his abusive nature, and the lifestyle he chose to lead. All of it was ok, because he trusted her to be in his life, and that was all she wanted.
She slept soundly that night, knowing that in the morning she would get to see him again.

Meanwhile, back at the police station, 3 officer sat in an office discussing the earlier robbery. The task force had been assembled to get as much information as possible on the biggest criminal on the streets Silence. He was called that because that's as much information as anyone ever got. No one knew anything more than the fact that it was indeed a male and that he stole drugs and other possessions from wealthy people.
For as long as he could remember, Seokjin had been tracking Silence and he never got farther than matching crimes that looked like they might be connected to Silence. He had no real evidence and that frustrated him. The chief was even considering disbanding the task force, and the only reason he didn't was because his daughter Anya asked him not to. Anya was also on the task force, and was of great help to Seokjin.
"It's got to be him," she blurted. "The thief stole jewelry, and drugs; the same as usual."
"I'm aware but that doesn't help anything if we can't get any information on what he looks like." He was trying his best to be patient with Anya but sometimes he let his frustration get the better of him.
"Just once I'd like to get a glimpse of this guy. Then we'd have a better chance of catching him. How does he always get away. For 10 years he's eluded the police! When will it end?" He slammed his fist on the table, and Anya became silent.
"I just don't-" Jin's words were interrupted by the sound of his office door opening. He shot his younger brother a look that said get out, but the boy ignored it.
"Hyung, listen I've got something." He looked up eagerly at his older brother, who merely waved a hand to dismiss him.
"Not now Jungkook, I'm trying to think."
"But hyung, listen. I think I may have found someone worth interviewing."
Both Anya and Jin turned to the newest addition to their task force, and waited.
"Normally, I just listen to the radio for any information other officers have on whatever place has been burglarized, but today, since the place was close to my location, I decided to pay a visit to the crime scene. As I was walking up, I noticed a pretty girl walking by the scene. She looked at the house, smiled, and then made eye contact with me. It weirded me out, so I asked the other officers if they had seen her before. Apparently she has a habit of being around the crime scenes, because the officers recognize her. She changes her hair a lot, but the face and body, they say they recognize. I double checked to see if the officers on call for some of the previous crimes remember seeing a face like hers, and they do. If we somehow get a hold of her for questioning, she may be able to give us some information on Silence."
The two senior officers were stunned. They had both been to crime scenes before and neither of them had noticed that detail.
"How are we going to find her? That information is only good if we can get her in for questioning." Jin said sternly.
"Don't worry about him, good work Kookie." Anya was always the nicer of the two seniors.
"About finding this girl, I think I have an idea for that as well. If she's known to hang around crime scenes, we can just wait for her to appear at the crime scene."
It was an obvious answer and one Seokjin should have come up with on his own, if it weren't for the migraine he currently had. He grunted his approval, and with that Jungkook left.
One of these days I will prove just how good of an investigator I am. Just wait, hyung, I'm going to be the one to track this girl down! He thought.
