Several Weeks Later.
The smell of coffee filled the air and Jin couldn't help but feel a little more relaxed. He always felt better once he had his morning coffee, and it seemed to him the others were the same.
"3 Americanos to go!" A nearby barista shouted.
Grabbing the coffee and heading out the door, he silently promised himself that today would be the day. The day he finally got answers about Silence. This was a promise he made daily, and each time it was broken he felt a little more disappointed in himself. Though he had Anya and Jungkook, as their leader he felt the burden of their lack of results more than others.
By the time he reached the office, his two colleagues were already deep in discussion.
"Coffee time!" He said, interrupting whatever thought Anya was about to convey.
"It's about time, we were beginning to think you got lost." Jungkook smirked at his older brother, who lightly punched his arm in return.
"Listen, I think we are going about this the wrong way. Instead of waiting around for this girl to show up at another crime scene, which for the past 2 weeks hasn't existed, we should drive around and see if maybe we get lucky enough to catch her. We have enough information to get her to come down to the station for an interview." As usual Jin wasted no time joining in the daily discussion of their only suspect.
"I guess. It might not pay off though, because the chances of us getting her that way are very slim." Jungkook sighed. He knew his brother was right, he just didn't see the need to try that hard, when they could just as easily sit back and wait for her to show herself at a crime scene.
"Your brother is right Jungkook. We should be out there looking for her; it's better than sitting around here waiting for a call that might never come." Anya was the type of person who liked to be practical, and she agreed that sitting around the office was more of a waste of time than anything.
"Then it's settled. We should leave immediately. Call me if either of you notice anything." Seokjin nodded to his partners as he headed out the door.
"Wait. But I'm riding with you!" Anya called after him.
"Why? Don't you have a car?" He retorted.
"Not right now. It's in the shop for maintenance. I got a ride here from my dad." Being the chief's daughter had its perks, one of them being that her car always had the latest gear. Her father didn't want to take any chances of his daughter getting hurt.
"Fine. But lets go now." He shouted back.
Meanwhile Jungkook just shook his head. He knew how much Anya liked his hyung. He also knew that her car was in fact not in the shop, but that didn't matter because it would only take a phone call to remedy that. He smiled as he too headed out. "We'll get you today mystery girl," He thought.
On the other side of town, a rested Minha was just waking up. For the third night in a row, she had been alone, and this she simply could not stand. He had gotten spooked after seeing more police officer than usual at their last crime scene, and decided to put a temporary halt on their operation. She missed her boyfriend and was pissed that he didn't even have the decency to answer her calls.
After one more failed phone call attempt, she decided to stop by his apartment. She knew he hated when she came over unannounced but to her seeing an angry Yoongi was better than not seeing him at all.
She knocked on the door once, but no one answer. A second time. Still no answer. Finally on the 3rd knock, her sleepy boyfriend opened the door.
"What the fuck are you doing here?" He asked, clearly still tired.
She didn't bother answering him, and simply walked over to his couch to sit down.
"Yah. Seriously what the fuck are you doing here?" He asked this time more than slightly annoyed.
"You never answer my calls, and it's been 3 days since the last time I saw you. I missed you." She smiled sweetly at him, and he rolled his eyes.
"I'm tired, so get out."
"No, let me take a nap with you." She asked again smiling sweetly.
"I'm not going to ask you again. Leave." He said, his voice low and even.
"No."
This time he grabbed her by the arm and pushed her out into the hallway before slamming the door behind her.
"What a jerk," she thought "He could at least let me spend some time with him."
Not wanting to be alone she decided to call her best friend.
"Hobi? I'm bored, let's meet up at our usual spot." She hung up without waiting for a response. She knew he would be there.
The gas station they usually met up at was old and run down. It was a common spot for thugs and criminals, but Minha never felt afraid because she knew Hoseok and his gang would protect her.
Walking up to him, she felt a little less tense. They had been friends since they were little, and he always knew how to make her feel better. She was able to tell him everything because she trusted him, and knew that he would be there for her. Despite how much she cared for him, Minha never felt like she loved Hoseok, at least in a romantic way. He was her best friend, and her protector, but not her lover (a fact he deeply resented).
"How's it going?" Hoseok smiled at her as she ran to hug him.
The boy next to him tensed nervously, and Minha reached a hand out to ruffle his hair.
"Jimin when are you going to stop tensing every time I come around? I'm not going to hurt him, I promise."
Hoseok was the leader of the gang, and Jimin was his right hand man. He always got nervous around Minha, but not because he thought she would physically hurt Hoseok, more so because he knew the emotional toll Hoseok's unrequited love would take on the leader. Jimin was strong, and could handle any threat to the safety of the members, but this was one foe he knew he could not beat. He merely nodded in Minha's direction and held his position.
She smiled at Hoseok before turning to face the other members.
"Namjoon." She smiled, and he awkwardly nodded.
"But Hobi, who's the new guy?" She asked nodding to the boy with the red hair behind Namjoon.
"Ah, that's our newest recruit, Taehyung. He joined about a week ago."oo
The boy in question sarcastically smiled back at her, and Minha felt a strong urge to smack him.
Instead she turned to Hoseok and began discussing the issues she had been having since her and Yoongi had been on crime hiatus.
After he let her vent, he asked the same questions he always asked her.
"Are you sure you're happy? I know he hurts you, so why do you stay?"
"Hobi, I'm more than okay and you know that. I love him, and no matter what he does, I don't think I will ever stop loving him."
"Things are getting especially dangerous out there for you now so you need to be careful. There are more cops out there now than I've ever seen and I don't like the looks of it. Eventually this Bonnie and Clyde thing of yours is gonna have to end, you know that right. I don't want you to end up in jail, or worse dead."
She nodded and as they finished their discussion she couldn't help but feel happy that someone cared about her that much. "Yoongi never talks about stopping. And he never worries about my safety unless its connected with the possibility of him getting caught" she thought. "Speaking of Yoongi, I need to go back in case he needs me for something." She sighed, and said goodbye to her longtime friend.
As she rounded the corner past the gas station, she heard a voice yell "Stop!" and as she turned around she came face to face with her worst nightmare. She had hoped to never come in contact with a police officer, and now here one was pointing his finger at her and asking her to come speak to him. "SHIT." She thought.
